I’d be very surprised, can’t see them keeping Hirst, Bishop, Pigott and Scarlett happy.

Can’t see how they afford him. Plus they’ve got Scarlett, bishop and Pigs. Do they really need him, especially given their finances?

Given that the prose on the website looks like its been run through an auto-translator and the writer doesn't appear to be aware that Hirst's out of contract next Summer, I'm guessing they aren't terribly in the know.

It’s a twitter account with 900 followers, so I wouldn’t take it as gospel.

1/ are we actually interested in him and 2/ His league stats aren't that great so why are people so eager we sign him.

I thought they barely had a pot to pi$$ in? If there is any truth Leicester rejected £1,5 million bid from Town, expect they would have to pay 2 million and that would seem unlikely to me. Perhaps Hirst just doesn't want to come to us?

Even if we were interested in Hirst, how strong was that interest - and has it been cooled by the ever-increasing pricetag? Or, indeed, how well our current setup is functioning? Are there other irons in the fire?

Do Leicester want to let him go at all? Haggling over the odd half-million is not going to make that much difference to a Prem budget, but could prevent any sale from happening to a lower-division club.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

1/ TWTD and EADT both seem to think so and they only publish stuff they can stand up
2/ (a) Probably because he's been mentioned a lot in the media.
(b) After many years of being highly rated It seemed to click for him in the second half of last season, he's a good age, has good attributes (good in the air, good finisher, quick, athletic). Hopefully, he'd continue that with us.

His League 1 stats are good. He played just over half a season (2425 mins) and got 13 goals and 4 assists

(46*90)/(2425/13)= 22.19 goals across a season
(46*90)/(2425/(13+4))= 29.02 goal involvements over a season.

If he'd done this over a longer period of time, he'd likely be playing in the Championship. That he hasn't, is why we are a potential destination.

Edit: I'm not eager that we sign him. I am eager that we sign someone else who can lead the line upfront, as I believe we are overly dependent on Ladapo. If this is concluded soon, then we can move onto another target (if we have one).

If we had a better option lined up surely that becomes our main target and Hirst the back up?

Similar to Bonne’s half season stats. Rather have him back.

Here's Bonne's equivalent stats:

(46*90)/(2756/12)= 18.03 goals across a season
(46*90)/(2756/(12+3))= 22.53 goal involvements over a season.

I'm more nervous about Bonne, just because of how his stats dropped off under KM.

I read somewhere before that something was going on in his personal life and just took the time to dig out SitfcB's post linking to this: https://www.eadt.co.uk/sport/ipswich-town/macauley-bonne-on-itfc-and-his-qpr-fut which gives a lot of context for the drop in form.

I'd love for it to work out for him. Being a supporter, I'd imagine I'd be similar to him in terms of what it would mean to represent the club.

It’s a bit of a misnomer they don’t have any cash. Eisner is loaded but wants to do things the right way and invest in grass roots and infrastructure rather than bank rolling them given their recent issues.

Not happening unless it’s a loan.

You could see Hirst maximising his hand being out of contract next season by only accepting a loan, but Pompey have sold his ammunition to us. I’d expect him to come to Ipswich or go higher up.
