Just had my lizard out for a spot of sun 13:31 - Aug 31 with 1704 viewsMullet

Basking with a stiff breeze, seemed to be enjoying himself until a pigeon got him puffed up and turning black out of fear. My kids were loving having him out in the open too.

Anyone else own a bearded dragon or non-furry pets on here?

Mrs Bloom is bearded but I would never call her a dragon she would kill me if I did.

Why does this bring back terrible memories of mother in law not locking the bathroom door at shower time?

Are her scales mid shed too? My poor boy is feeling rather sorry for himself unfortunately as he has great chunks of dead skin flapping about.

Is that normal for a lizard?

Yep, they grow and shed their scales in clumps. Not like a snake where you get it in one or two big pieces but small clumps.

Cos they're spiky round the sides it doesn't fall off very evenly.

Just dampen his skin with some water and it will help drop off

When i was a lot younger I wanted a pet Gheko. But my parents told me in no uncertain chance that there was absolutely zero chance.

In hindsight they were probably right

I never do that in case it damages the new stuff, vets bills for an infection right now wouldn't be welcome!

To be fair he's barely been handled since we had kids but he is still tame as anything so I just let him sit on me when it's like this. Tapping with BD's invariable means massive poo incoming, and they're the smelliest messiest things known to man.

We’ve adopted Boy George’s as he couldn’t cope with its temper tantrums.

He wanted a Calmer Chameleon.

I had to give away Gordon Gekko as he liked to sit on my lap, but I have restless leg syndrome and the shaking made him fall off and hurt himself.

My knee never sleeps, pal.
