The Dove - currently enjoying a pint. Not since I was 18 or so have I sampled this place’s wares. Is rather nice isn’t it?

A very good pub.

We were there last night for a very good comedy night, with KJ and myself being the last to leave the premises.
Ooops.

Indeed. Cup final day was the last time I went there. Cracking beers and always a bonus when they have a barbecue firing.

Used to be my local. In fact it was a conversation in there that got me involved with TWTD!

Yes. It was a good night, and it lifted the spirits. Whether I'm mental or not isn't as a result of that.

The organisers had considered things and taken their lead on other theatres/shows/gigs etc continuing, but having been months in the planning and having booked a decent level headliner didn't want to cancel unless they had to, but they issued this statement beforehand:

"At Glass Eye we are deeply saddened by the passing of HRH Queen Elizabeth II and we would like to take this opportunity to send our heartfelt condolences to the Royal Family in this time of mourning.
With it widely reported that The Queen had a fantastic sense of humour we feel it only right to continue with our planned events including this coming Monday Club*."

*As in last night, not next Monday, obviously.

That is the reason I never went to 'The KIngfisher', in fact it was made known to me that the whole of the Chantry estate was off limits so I only ever travelled in when I got a party invite that included a lift there and back.

Returning to the original post, does 'The Dove' still have a pool table ?

No, the dove has a few board games, and a space invaders table which may or may not still work, but no pool table

They lost it a bit during the ‘coming out of lockdown’ phase, didn’t know when to come out of it, while other pubs(The Wolsey mainly) went for it. Lots of regulars migrated post match, but they may be returning? It was the high spot of match days through the Evans years, although their trophy customer was Ian Milne!
