Paul Warne 4 year deal at Derby 14:10 - Sep 22 with 4313 views | itfcsuth | Unsure how that will pan out, whether he was suited to being at a club like Rotherham, that mentality and style - complete different mentality at Derby. Also was gutted when Derby managed to stay up only a couple of seasons ago.
Paul Warne 4 year deal at Derby on 14:13 - Sep 22 with 3452 views | Zx1988 | A complete sea-change in terms of pressure as well. There'll be a shedload more expectation on him at Derby than there ever was at Rotherham. A four-year deal seems somewhat hefty though. I'd have seen Warne as a safe pair of hands to try and get them out of L1 at the first time of asking, but nothing more. [Post edited 22 Sep 2022 14:18]

Paul Warne 4 year deal at Derby on 14:25 - Sep 22 with 3385 views | itfcjoe | I think it's a really good appointment, and one that makes Derby stronger than they were this time yesterday - excellent man manager, and has done really well consistently with Rotherham playing a style of football that is high intensity The video is him vs the previous regime who were financially doping, so sure Derby fans won't hold it against him

His style worked with Rotherham, unsure whether it will work a club like Derby. Rotherham played with a that underdog mentality, backs to the wall come out fighting spirit - there is a completely different mentality at a club like Derby, and what the fans expect. Of course winning football games will solve all issues. Initially looks split from Derby fans, especially if you look through their forum.

I think there is quite an easy narrative for Derby to use to get them at least back into Championship - whether it works from that point onwards we don't know but he's never had to eb anything else bar the underdog and may be adaptable and able to do so

Paul Warne 4 year deal at Derby on 15:41 - Sep 22 with 3015 views | Chrisd | A very shrewd move by Derby. Warne knows what’s needed to get out of this division and he’s done it more than once. Rotherham must be hugely disappointed, especially after starting the season so well in the Championship.

Rotherham have a far lower ceiling than Derby and will pay less.

Derby are a club with so much larger potential than Rotherham that I doubt it was a hard decision. Yes, Rotherham have made a decent start, but just staying in the Championship is punching above their weight as all they can afford are free transfers or lower league players. Well, they signed 12 players permanently (all free transfers) plus 6 loan players in the summer. I guess the so-called transfer "embargo" doesn't apply to bringing in a new manager. [Post edited 22 Sep 2022 16:55]

They are no longer operating under a transfer embargo.

I suppose it will all depend on the nature of Warne's contract with Rotherham as well. There may have been clauses allowing him to move to a certain calibre of club for no fee, or it may just be that he resigned about 10mins before signing for Derby.

Paul Warne 4 year deal at Derby on 17:07 - Sep 22 with 2596 views | Steve_M | Yes, Derby haven't really assembled a squad to play the way Rotherham have. Equally, it will be a test to see how he can expand his approach at a bigger club. Talking of managers who failed stepping up:

He's 100% applied for the Rotherham job.

Yes, he clearly can't bluff his way through that. Or maybe someone rung him up like Ronnie Moore....

Ronnie Moore was a really strange one. Clearly some imposter did a pretty good job. The funny thing was that Moore clearly fancied a move to Town & our supporters seemed a lot keener on the idea than getting Joe Royle in.

I have a horrible feeling that he's going to do a Roy Keane at Sunderland and get them up the table pretty damn quickly.

I think everyone at Grimsby must know that Hurst would take any Championship job offered him in a heartbeat, surely? He'd be daft not to. He's also got to know it's a massive long shot for him. Best answer you can offer in those circumstances is just "it's not on my mind at the moment, you don't need to worry".

I’m not sure what he’s supposed to say. I think he answered fairly blunt and leading questions quite well, although it would have helped enormously if he had taken the opportunity to make a full and frank apology to the supporters of Ipswich Town. Applying for and being headhunted and / or appointed to a job are however two very different things. He has some quite spectacular managerial baggage to carry as well as some decent achievements. Last time he was appointed to a Championship club it didn’t go well. He’d have some explaining to do at his interview. Is his Neanderthal sidekick Doig still in tow?
