I agree with you but the 20 years of failure, hurt and disappointment have taken its toll on our fan base and there is an air of desperation as it feels as though this year is our best chance in a long time and if we screw it up now, that’s us consigned to this league for many more years to come. I agree with you but the 20 years of failure, hurt and disappointment have taken its toll on our fan base and there is an air of desperation as it feels as though this year is our best chance in a long time and if we screw it up now, that’s us consigned to this league for many more years to come. I'm just trying to have the first sensible discussion on this board in days and to encourage people to show some positivity and to enjoy what will undoubtedly turn out to be the high point of the decade for the club. We haven't been second in League 1 at Christmas literally in years.

All I can say is that my neighbour's taxi driver's sister's hairdresser's brother's boss said he was driving past the training ground a couple of weeks ago on his way to the butcher's to buy some pigs in blankets and saw a car with the registration G4Z M3G5 in the car park but I don't know how true it is. | |

I think that will be the club's view as well. I really think this window will see 2-3 Championship level (or considered ready to step up) players come in and we won't look back. | |

No easy way of getting rid of negativity due to years of failure, broken promises and the belief that we are better than what we are or have been. Despite this we are still one of the best currently in this League otherwise we wouldn't be second. If we were the best undoubtedly we would be top. Obviously others will strengthen in the transfer window. There will be those that fall away and there will be teams that charge. It will be up to the manager and CEO to identify the areas we are failing in and get the right players in that not only keep us in with a chance but move us up a notch. with players out long term I think we may need another four players in. Centre forward, winger/wide man, midfielder and fullback. |  | | |

I think it's inbuilt now, particularly for fans under 30, and seeps into those of us used to better times too — so I do get it.
But yes, a lot of what's being said is a bit much. It reflects in some ways the fact that this season is a massive, massive opportunity for the club to really take off — and that not exploiting it would set us right back again. That's hard to deny and it is frequently in my thoughts too. On the other hand: we're second despite a really punishing run of injuries and a tough run of games, with a transfer window now upon us, a sensible recruitment setup and more cash than our competition. Instinctively I'd say that we've rode out the mini storm of the past month or two pretty well, a shade better than I'd expected, and seem very well set. [Post edited 2 Jan 2023 11:25]

The obsessive nitpicking over every pass, shot, and tackle is not healthy at all. Some people lose their minds quite spectacularly. I know we all rant and rave and moan on matchdays in the heat of the moment but some of the continual fretting is insane. |  |
