Don't know how bad he has to play before KM picks someone else.

I'd rather see Edwards starting for him.

Afraid so. Been off it for a few games. I’d give Edwards or Jackson an go in that position for a bit.

Bizarre for a player that was so pivotal last season.
Is it a confidence thing or something else?

His decision making has been awful today. So frustrating.

Hirst is running him close tbf. How Ladapo on goal scoring form doesn’t start I don’t know!

He still occupies two defenders, though... Sometimes 3.... But , yeah, looks a bit low on confidence. Some poor decisions and poor crosses..... He's lost his edge a bit.

Seriously?

Hirst was great that half. His hold up play was absolutely top notch and almost assisted Chaplin brilliantly.

He nearly scored in the first 5 mins, almost set Chaplin up and would of scored if Burns was not a knob and rolled an easy pass to him.

He had a decent first half.

You’d hope he “would score” not nearly score. Low expectations haven’t you for a no9

not saying burns form deserves a start , but that passage of play started from a mistake from our million pound signing losing the ball then just ambling back without a care in the world. nothing to do with burns

It started from an interception yes. It happens

However. Whilst you say Clarke is ambling back. His more advanced than Burns. Yet still ambles back past him. So my point stands.

Different folk see different things. Hirst had a good game. Indeed no one played badly. Some unlucky decisions and that Broadhead miss made the last ten nervy. But we are clearly a very good team.

Nearly, almost could have, could be,might have if only?

Ladapo was in good goal scoring form and is dropped for someone who may have scored a goal for us in the cup just hope Ladapo doesn't go off the boil while we are giving a loan player field time

It was only a couple of weeks ago there was a clamber to drop Walton and Davis.

Burns does a lot of great work.

Chill out and enjoy the run in.

For me he seems to have lost all the good traits he had last season.

I get that KM probably trusts him more than Edwards for example, but he really is massively under preforming

Poll: How many home games do you get to a season

1
Burns looks awful on 08:10 - Feb 26 with 1988 viewsHerbivore

He's had a few good games this season but for most of it he's looked off it. Think being in the Wales squad and barely getting a break at the end of last season has had an impact, he's looked jaded. Had hoped he might manage to recapture what he had last season but he looks really off the boil at the minute.

Think it's important to remember though that he's always been very hit and miss with his end product. Even last season when he was scoring regularly, he got into a lot of dangerous positions in most games and the majority of his shots and crosses weren't great, but he was getting into those areas so regularly that one or two of his efforts would come off and lead to a goal or assist. This season he's not getting into as many good positions and so his wastefulness is more noticeable. That said, he still produces big moments for us at times, like the goal against Plymouth, and he still gets into dangerous areas. Not sure Edwards offers us more, he's equally patchy with his end product. Jackson by contrast has looked in top form recently and he does tend to pick a good cross more often than Burns and Edwards so I'd be tempted to give him a start. Think he gets back better than Burns currently too.

He really did look like a man who needs either a rest or dropping to regain himself, Edwards surely is the man, Burns squandered at least 3 great positions, I think the only reason he isn’t out is no one offers that defensive cover like him when you compared Jackson or Edwards.

He was poor I thought

Jackson covers defensively very well, arguably better than Burns on recent form. Not sure about the clamour for Edwards, he's very hit and miss. On current form it should be Jackson starting on the right for me.

Agree. Edwards was awful at Bristol Rovers when he came on.

He’s very inconsistent and Burns is certainly better at defending.

But Burns is not the same player right now. Opponents have doubled up and worked him out, he’s lacking confidence and seems reluctant to take on his man.

Jackson would be the obvious replacement but he was guilty of a poor touch yesterday and can be infuriating at times.

The thing is if I had to put my mortgage on which player I think could influence the game better in that position it would still be Burns.
