Have a spare 60k to put somewhere this year from the gardening and well if it's going to be tax free!!!

A spare 60k?! So much for being a bankers debt slave.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Do you think he may have been joking?

I didn't say it was a bad idea. Just explaining it's unlikely to benefit most people.

Can I come and work for you

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

I've tried doing a bit of gardening last couple of years with my son as I thought it's something he can do. It's a hard gig. Mainly elderly people who need total clearance of their over grown gardens for little money. And when it gets hot.....I can't keep up much pace. So you have my respect.

Whilst there are a few gardeners here.....

In my new garden there are a few clumps of Lords and Ladies coming up - is my best best to just dig it out and destroy? Not keen on using chemicals unless absolutely necessary.

Dig them up. Any that poke their heads up that you miss you can get with an organic weed killer. Not as effective as glyphosate but will control it satisfactorily.

The solution is simple and far cheaper for both you and the state, just work yerself into an early grave.

Granted it might not be a vote winner, need a three word phrase.

"Work til you drop" is the closest I could do.

Probably like most gardeners I know, paid in cash = no tax, so not surprised you have 60k.

That doesn't really work, because HMRC start to wonder what you're living on.

Mmmmm. Not taken cash for work for a good few years now. Not worth the hassle of having to go to the bank to pay it in. Cheques are still being used for payment by a few of the old folks though who can’t get the hang of paying by bacs.

Seeing as how my pension pot currently stands at zero the question in the op may be more relevant than the topical content!!
