Presumably in Churchmans somewhere but don’t know how you’d segregate effectively. (Although weren’t west ham in there for playoff game back in the day?)

If you look at the plans for the turnstile work there were also new gates at both end of the lower tier making a totally isolated area. They can link the upper tier and corporate sections to side stands without much effort. [Post edited 24 Mar 2023 13:32]

Interesting stuff from Ashton in the news stories on 13:29 - Mar 24 with 3897 views | hatch | Realistically it's Cobbold or SAR. Cobbold he's said have the best view and if you put them along the bottom tier like Wolves used to then you'd no doubt have issues with the boxes. Which leaves SAR and I'm not sure how far the SBR suite stretches down the middle. You can't have them upper tier above Ipswich fans as I guess there's risk of missiles. Which broadly leaves the bottom left block of the stand (Block 6?). Not sure how many that holds and what % we have to provide away fans in the league? Could expand upwards to the block in the tier above for cup games when they get higher %?

They aren’t going to walk them through housing to Cross that bridge

You've then got the corporate seats the SBR Suite uses at the back of Churchmans, so they can't go there either. And you can't effectively segregate the lower and upper tier of Churchmans, as they used the same turnstiles, and the stairs to the upper tier are on the lower tier concourse.

The SBR suite is the entire width of the stand, you just lock the doors and sit the people upstairs.

Not an issue, plenty of grounds have corporate behind the away section, you just lock the doors and put the people upstairs to watch the match. All of the existing upper tier turnstiles will close. The end of each upper tier concourse will be opened up and new stairs will be built on the Pioneer side. On the Cobbled side they will build a temporary walkway between the upper tiers of the two stands.

All will be sorted once they knock down the cobbold and rebuild it like ncfcs side stand. Away fans to enter via turnstiles in current position, with a walk away through stand to away section down by the NS.

It makes me think what a headache it must have been when away fans shared the North Stand AND had the current seats if there was a large following. From memory, the away coaches would park up at West End Road end of Portman Walk and you'd still have some coming off the train.

Away fans will enter the ground through new turnstiles in the the back of the SBR lower.
Interesting stuff from Ashton in the news stories on 13:57 - Mar 24 with 3561 views | unstableblue | The lower Churchmans is the obvious answer… access to the station without passing North Stand traffic Extendable from left to right to scale. So half is normal allocation. Area behind screen for access, catering. BUT the challenge is the lounge and premium seating at back of that area… as well as moving very loyal season ticket holders to the upper tier The former means it can’t happen I think.

Other than the fact I sit in it, I don’t like the idea of Churchmans lower as I don’t like giving away teams the opportunity to attack directly towards their own fans. Prefer the idea of upper. Stick them out of the way.

I think this is the best and most realistic option - a bit like the Etihad. That stand holds c.8k so at very most it would only ever need a third of it given up, maybe more for cup games where we have to give 15%. Also allows police to close that end of Portman road and have away fans enter in that corner. Everyone else to either leave via the new exists or from the SBR end across the Portman Rd car park and out that way. What would be interesting is when away teams have a small following and we only give them one tier, if we sit home fans above / below them, as I think there now has to be netting or something in place where that happens to avoid objects being thrown down.

They were put in the back for that very purpose It would mean the away fans would approach the ground away from the home fans. They could only access those turnstiles across the land that staples sits on now.

That then impacts on entry to Beatties after the game....

Not really, just go in the entrance at the other end and then by the time people leave everyone else would’ve cleared off.
