Playing against the best midfield in the division today but not worth 2 million on that showing

Tidy passer. Nowhere near the desire that morsy and luongo showed though, which is a bit of a red flag for me.

Had a good shot midway through 2nd half that I thought had gone in.

Yep i'll give him that. Otherwise it was lots of walking around and passing sideways. And he does the flappy hand thing. Can't stand the flappy hand thing.

Peterborough are very good at getting a good price for their players. Toney is the only one I can think of who has increased in value since moving on. I would look elsewhere rather than keep chasing him, unless he has managed to get a clause into his contract and we are in the Championship.

Gone are the days we chase the same player until we finally pay well over the odds instead of moving on to a different target.

He's never stood out when watching him play in a handful of games before. Again today Morsy and Luongo dominated their Peterborough counterparts. Hopefully we'll look elsewhere in the summer. Posh completely overpriced him when they needed the money.

"Some people never learn".

I think I am right in taking it in the context of players like Chopra who we chased for a long time, eventually paid well over the odds for and then found out he wasn't really what we thought we were getting after all.

That said, I think if the current management set up decide he is the right signing at the right place, I am not going to argue. Their recruitment has been spot on so far.

Nope…

I was talking about the OP. Judging a player on one game. Ignoring that we identify players with certain attributes who McKenna can improve. He’s been a long term target and we’ve clearly done our homework on him so dismissing him based on one game is a bit odd.

Excactly,
He will improve ten fold under McKenna,
He's not targeted because he's a poor player,

'On that showing'. The OP was intended more as a celebration of how good our current midfield is, especially in the context of that ridiculous luogo-bashing thread tbe other day.

They should give Jack Taylor to us if we want him after mugging us off with Paul Taylor. I bet they’re still wiping the tears of laughter away after that bit of burglary.

He looked better second half I thought - first half he looked very average and kept on taking the easy option. Presumably McKenna is confident he’d be able to mould and improve him in the same way he’s done with others. I quite liked one of their centre backs - but not sure who it was.

Would have been the excellent Ronnie Edwards who played on the left wearing the 4 shirt - very solid, reads game well and very quick - he'll be a very big sale for them in the summer

I thought he showed some good attributes.
I noted a few Posh fans complaining about their sideways passing - like it was a tactical choice - but our press must have been absolute murder to play through yesterday. Taylor looked athletic, technically very good, press resistant and was unlucky not to score a worldie. If he went backwards and sideways a lot yesterday it was for the same reason every Posh player did.

I can see why we're interested.

Ive got a mate whose a Posh fan and attended yesterdays game.. He said we were the best of any team to have played at London Rd this season. And was quick to point out, the sheer speed and relentlessness of our pressing....
I think a lot of us have started taking that side of our game for granted a little bit. What with all the goals were seeing. Morsy and Chaplin have played pretty much every minute of every game in a long while now. They amaze me how they both keep going.
Talking of Morsy, it's been mentioned a few times on various threads, that he's the wrong side of 30, age wise.
I think he has exception fitness levels, has never been injured in his time here. And with today's sports science coupled with sensible management and I guy that is clearly a consummate professional in the way he looks after himself. Imo, he's got plenty to offer, for a good few years yet....

The fact it has been Ramadan recently just emphasises all you've said about Morsy there.

Don't think it's too unlikely that Sam Morsy retires as club captain, aged 35, after 200+ appearances for us.
