Winning ugly and riding our luck 17:01 - Aug 19 with 3859 views | Illinoisblue | You absolutely love to see it. Come on! And Burns and Broady bantering with a rattled Ainsworth at the end. Drink it in!

Winning ugly and riding our luck on 17:02 - Aug 19 with 3156 views | DanTheMan | Good stuff, definitely rode our luck but we had the better chances again, a bit like the Sunderland game. Pivotal moment other than our goal was the penalty shout for Burgess on one of theirs. Looked like a penalty to me.

Winning ugly and riding our luck on 17:03 - Aug 19 with 3094 views | wkj | Wasprobably the closest game of the season so far, but at least we know complacency doesn't seem like it will be an issue. 2 more wins and we will be at the same level of wins as 18/19 - COYB

Winning ugly and riding our luck on 17:08 - Aug 19 with 2857 views | Mullet | I'll give Ainsworth his due he sacrificed his midfield to hold a shape and to man mark out 10's and it worked. Broadhead, Chaplin and Burns all struggled and made bad decisions under pressure today. Punting it through for Sinclair to run at us was all they seemed to have until Chair had a pop. Sometimes it worked until the finish, but QPR won't stay up if they're setting up at home to just stop a team coming up from Div 3.

Didn’t see the game but Stoke tried to swamp Broadhead Hirst and Chaplin last week and had some success. And lost. As I say, I didn’t seen the game but note on BBC we had plenty of possession and attempts even if the number on target looks light. There is a period of adjustment for us in this division especially with managers like Ainsworth who know what we are about. We will improve, just as others will improve. We will lose games too, but 9 points from 9 points winning ugly or well like last week? I wouldn’t have put a penny on it. Big result that, just like the MK Dons 1-0 strugglefest in March. Winning different ways is what good teams do. I’m really happy with that. Ta for your thoughts. I’m very interested in those who’ve seen it/were there like yourself.

He’s probably a nice bloke but I’m still annoyed with him for his comments about us last season. Yes Gareth, there’s a reason we bring a lot of equipment and coaches.

We had the better chances? Bit of a stretch there Daniel, they missed from about 3 yards out and had a shot hit both posts. I don't think we had any better than those two!

I think on the whole we did. I'd need to watch it back but the shot that both posts was just a really good strike that was unlucky to not go in but it didn't come from much if you see what I mean. Same with Chair spotting Hladký off his line, very close to going in but a very difficult chance. The one they've missed right on the line, that was obviously a good chance although it seemed like he had half a second to try and twist their leg at it and couldn't, but one we got away with. But then we had Burns missing from a similar distance with nobody marking him at the back post, Chaplin missing a volley from a really good spot, and then Chaplain's goal, and then Luongo had another really good chance as well. For me we had the better overall chances, would be interested to know what the xG was. [Post edited 19 Aug 2023 17:41]

Winning ugly and riding our luck on 17:34 - Aug 19 with 2375 views | BloomBlue | Difficult game, but QPRs first home league game of the season, they were always going to run and run. If you can come out of a game like that with a win, brilliant

Thought we were in control through most of the game, but QPR definitely had the better chances today. They had a shot which struck both posts and miss of the season when the lad put it wide from 3 or 4 yards out, whereas most of our efforts were from outside the area as they were very compact and organised and happy to sit in and let us have the ball in front of them. Looked like a stonewall penalty for Burgess’ challenge too, think we got away with one there. All that said though … GET THE F*** IN WE’RE TOP OF THE LEAGUE!

I’d forgotten about Burns’ header - you’re right there. Flashscore has the xG as QPR 1.18 vs Town 1.3, so that sided with you to be fair. Funny how the stats sometimes contrast with how you feel watching it, eh.

I don't think it really matters how it came about, a shot that hits the inside of one post, goes across the line and comes out off the other post... that's an extraordinary chance. And the 3 yard out one, much closer than Burns, and even the guys in the studio said it was harder to miss. We had some very presentable chances, and probably more than QPR, but QPR clearly had the best two. I didn't even mention the halfway line lob.

I thought Burgess got a toe on the ball, certainly looking at where it travelled to. No way was that a stonewaller.

If you were to smack a shot from 60 yards and it hits both posts, it's not a great chance in my mind, just a very good strike. Same with the lob, very good strike, not a brilliant chance. That's the difference for me. I guess we're just judging it by two different metrics The one from a yard out, that was a good chance.

I thought so too at first, but the more I watch the replay the more I think I would have given the pen. Would like to see it from another angle to see if he did get his toe on it, which seemed to be what the ref was indicating.
