Air BnB cancelled my accommodation less than 24 hours before we go…. 12:33 - Sep 7 with 2748 views | ITFC_Forever | Apparently a family member has an emergency and needs to stay there. The cynic in me says the emergency is the nice weather and they fancy using it themselves this weekend….

Air BnB cancelled my accommodation less than 24 hours before we go…. on 12:40 - Sep 7 with 2670 views | earlsgreenblue | Yup, been there several times, booked New Year’s Eve in Funchal months in advance & a week before it got cancelled, I played up hell & as a result everything else was booked & couldn’t get accommodation anywhere. Air b&b phoned me from a call centre in the US trying to resolve it to no avail, if the owner decides he can get a better price locally he just cancels it no recompense to you! Feel for you!

Air BnB cancelled my accommodation less than 24 hours before we go…. on 12:42 - Sep 7 with 2650 views | Swansea_Blue | Well that's a pain. It could be genuine though, no way of knowing for sure. I saw the other day that New York is cracking down on AirBnBs and requiring any hosts using short term rental to register with the city authorities. This is all aimed at bringing properties up to scratch and ensuring there are protections for the renter in place (much as with hotels). It's lead to a big drop off in available properties though (which may be no bad thing in areas which can little afford housing stock to be taken out of circulation and used for short-term holiday homes). https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2023/sep/06/airbnb-new-rental-regulation-nyc

Air BnB cancelled my accommodation less than 24 hours before we go…. on 13:02 - Sep 7 with 2531 views | HARRY10 | Holiday let owners will have to replace the doors in their holiday lets and put a smoke alarm in virtually every room of the house - rules changes coming into force on October 1 in England and Wales will mean even those who let out a room for a single night will have to prove their homes are fire safe and ensure fire risk assessments are carried out and recorded, providing evidence of fire doors, keyless locks and smoke alarms in every bedroom and other rooms of their properties. Approximately 18,000 Airbnbs in the UK do not have smoke detectors and nearly 65,000 have no carbon monoxide alarms, according to figures from analysts AirDNA " the number of Airbnb listings now stands at approximately 247,000." No housing shortage - just a complete misuse of what already exists, some might think.
Air BnB cancelled my accommodation less than 24 hours before we go…. on 13:11 - Sep 7 with 2483 views | ITFC_Forever | It is in North Cornwall, 10 mins max. from the coast. We know the area well, so we managed to sort another place out after the initial panic.... it doesn't seem as nice as the original one, but at 24 hours notice, it'll have to do.

End users have the power to put them out of business if they're not happy with either the safety (lack of CO & smoke alarms etc.) or, at a deeper level, their use as holiday accom instead of longer-term lets, by refusing to book them.

Air BnB cancelled my accommodation less than 24 hours before we go…. on 16:41 - Sep 7 with 1827 views | _clive_baker_ | Might be worth kicking off to Airbnb. A good few years ago now so not sure what their customer service is like but I was quite impressed when it happened to me. Flights etc all booked and accommodation pulled at the 11th hour. Got a full refund immediately and a few hundred quid extra which allowed me to book a last minute hotel that in reality was probably better than what we had booked.
