Go back still further, to the first game of Ipswich Town's professional era - a 4-1 home win over Tunbridge Wells Rangers in the Southern League on 29th Aughust 1936. Not a single player in the Ipswich team was born in Suffolk. Four of the 11 were born in Scotland (Thompson, Cowie, McLuckie, Bruce) and another two in Wales (Parry, Williams). The English-born players came from Henley-on-Thames (Houldsworth), London (Perrett), Aylesbury (Carter), Eccleshall, Staffs (Blackwell) and Handsworth, Yorks (Dobson).
What Elephant is harking back to is the amateur era. Of which I very much doubt he saw any games. |  |

Portman Road is still very much based in Ipswich and in the same location that it has been for many a year. The local team are still very much the decision makers but are accountable to the owners who stay a respectful distance.
Your arguments against the present owners all seem to stem from casual xenophobia and your disregard for players that aren’t local is also distasteful. Yes they were unlucky, not least as the welsh gave away several penalties before anyone was carded, but it seemed the Fijian guy was carded for just one.
It seemed playing as a team in Super Rugby and having players at European teams is making a difference.
Also helps that the Kiwis has stopped nicking their players
