Didn't think we would drop below 28,000 all season nor should we given our record breakers at home.

Yeah, unreal to be getting close to full houses for a game like last night, which for a host of reasons is probably one of the least appealing of the season.

Midweek games can be difficult to get to for many reasons, work, travel, early start the following day, why the fixation on crowd numbers, the performance on the pitch is far more important. Second place in the league, 12 points clear of 6th place Hull is amazing and unbelievably great. I am totally focused on how great everything about Ipswich Town is now, matchday experience, atmosphere and fanzone are standout reasons to enjoy the moment and long may the good times continue. Surely it's fine to say the figure was less than 28,000, meaning that there were fewer than 28,000 countable persons present.
In the same way as the presenters of Pointless, well versed themselves in pedantry as a fun sport and noble art, can perfectly correctly say that a contestant needs "less than 50", meaning a score of less than 50, corresponding to an answer which fewer than 50 persons have given.
See also less than 3 pints of milk (being perfectly correct), meaning less milk than 3 pints' volume. Although I appreciate that milk is not countable, whereas the pints are.

Best first half of the season, and the second goal arguably being the goal of the season, and you're annoyed (at anything, let alone the crowd, which was still exceptional). Give your head a wobble, as I think the kids say these days.
I didn't go (although as a ST holder I guess I was counted) as it would be cutting it very fine getting there from south London after work, plus the train prices are higher midweek, and there's another home game Saturday.
