The current squad 11:22 - Jun 14 with 5853 views | IPSWICHFANITFC | I just saw this on EADT. We already know it's a big window but when you see it on paper like this, it really does make you think how much work we will have to do this summer to bridge a gap in quality. 16 senior players: GK: Walton RB: Clarke CB: Woolfenden, Burgess, Tuanzebe, Edmundson LB: Davis CM: Morsy, Luongo, Taylor RW: Burns AMC: Chaplin LW: Broadhead, Harness ST: Hirst, Al-Hamadi I would also argue that Edmundson may well be moved on in a one in, one out scenario and Al-Hamadi will probably get loaned out to a bottom half Championship side for crucial minutes.

I think Harness will stay. He will be in the 25 man squad but I think his opportunities in the matchday squad will be very limited and only really getting in through injuries. Walton might be another who goes, especially if Hladky signs a new deal. I've seen Rushworth at Brighton being mentioned but if Hladky doesn't sign, then Walton will stay for this season.

The current squad on 11:36 - Jun 14 with 4540 views | ReusersTown | Looks like a well managed evolution of the squad to me in terms of gaps. Maybe slightly accelerated due to our progression and we're obviously shopping in a different pool. But the core remains. The amount of incoming replacements would look similar in my eyes if we were still in the Championship. As for every Edmunson we may need to replace now we would have been replacing Davis etc...

I agree. I actually think it's a great platform to build on this summer. There's a large core of players in that list who have been here for the full duration of McKenna's tenure and will go again in the prem. Except for left back, right back (as we have two), possibly centre back, Morsy and Burns, I see us signing players to improve on what we have in their roles.

Can't see it personally re Harness. Barely played from the start of February onwards and only played 30 minutes in total across the last 10 games of the season. Which is a pretty firm indicator that the squad had evolved past him at that level let alone the Premier League.

I think Harness will stay as well. Athletic, low-maintenance player who can do specific jobs occasionally off the bench and for cup games. This season's Jackson?

Can't see it, he didn't even make the matchday squad towards the end of the season. I wouldn't be surprised if a return to Pompey was on the cards

Yes, that looks quite a likely destination for him.

Possibly, I guess it depends on who we bring in. Out of the 4, he's at the bottom of the pecking order and isn't going to move up it either. I think we will need to add at least 3 additions to those attacking midfielder spots and they're going to cost us. I would like Jack Clarke left, Omari central with Burns on the right as my first choice. Then Broadhead and Chaplin will play more of a role off the bench and if someone like Dan James was available to give Burns competition then he's someone I'd like. That raw pace in behind gives us another dynamic and we miss Burns when he has been out injured. Another option is Brereton Diaz who I like as a shout. Szmodics seems like a name who could be on our list potentially.

Yes i see it as a very good things. Kept the strongest players (loans excepted) but have plenty of room to get the added quality we need. If we currently had a squad of 20-25 without having the added quality it would make it much more difficult to improve the squad and would be much more upheaval to make the necessary spaces. We're in a good place where we have plenty of space for added qualiy withou disrupting the current team spirt harmony and morale.

We'll get 2 domestic loans i'm sure, leaving it about 7-8 permanent signings. I wonder if we'll play the foreign loan market. Maybe a loan, with a guarantee to buy if we stay up.

The current squad on 14:26 - Jun 14 with 3674 views | _clive_baker_ | A lot of work to do when you consider half of those 16 probably aren't PL starters. Davis, Burns, Morsy, Hirst, Broadhead, Chaplin and 1 or 2 of Burgess, Axel, Woolf are probably the only ones there that will start plenty of games for us next season.

On one hand we've got a squad and a core group of players who have been very successful for the last 2 seasons. On the other hand, underestimate the quality of the Premier League if you don't want to bring in many additions and find out what happens in a year. 8-10 players minimum for me. GK, 2 x CB's (with one being a left footer who can also cover as a LB), 2 x CM's, 3 x AM's/Wingers, 2 x FW's. Players like Oliver Skipp and Ryan Sessegnon would be good additions. I'd like us to go and get Jack Clarke and Omari too. I could also see a couple of development signings like Daniel Jebbison and maybe that attacking midfielder for Altrincham. Possibly think there is something in the Sam Gallagher rumour again too.

The current squad on 14:34 - Jun 14 with 3622 views | Marshalls_Mullet | I don't think Ali will be loaned. If he was, I don't think a lower Champ loan would help him, given that he performed well (given his injury) in a promotion side. 4 goals in 281 minutes aint bad. [Post edited 14 Jun 2024 15:59]

I think Davis, Burgess, Woolfenden, Tuanzebe, Morsy and possibly Burns personally. I'm not sure if the back 4 from the Championship will be the back 4 in the Prem though - but it's a tried and tested back 4 that got us over the line. I think Broadhead will struggle. Lacks the athleticism over the duration of the season. Not sure going away with Wales helps him much as he doesn't start games but obviously has to train. A few days off over the international break would probably see him be more consistent for us as he would return fresher.

He's here for the long term but he needs to play games. Next season can't be about sitting on the bench and picking up the odd minute here and there. A decent loan move next season to a club like Millwall would be beneficial all round. Go and score 15 goals in the Championship and play regularly. Come back next summer and be part of the squad.

We want him to develop though, and it takes games to do that, which you'd assume he's unlikely to get here straight away. It's the whole point of the loan system!

Think you have to be very careful with him. Ultimately we want him playing 40 games in a team that plays in a similar way to us to make it worth it. Does going and playing in a pragmatic system for someone like Harris benefit him more than being around better players and being coached by an elite manager like McKenna every day?
