Water cannons are the way to go.I see someone on another thread suggesting that this will stop when the weather changes. Drowned rats don't have the stomach for protesting. And you have the added bonus of putting out those bin fires.

We are no way on the level of the Toxteth and Brixton riots. Unfortunately riots around other parts of the world are worse than ours. We live in a day of 24 7 surveillance cameras etc so people are picked up much easier nowadays.

Absolutely no. This is a knee-jerk reaction which sounds tough and great.
Consider the legal implications (there are many ), lack of training, lack of appropriate training, the precedent set and the legacy of such a deployment.

That never ends well and have the police actually lost control yet?
No but unlike what the Government likes to claim there is no “special unit or additional police” the police are having leave cancelled, working ridiculous hours and being taken off regular duties….. ive seen first hand the impact, total exhaustion!

There's a reason you separate military and the police. One fights the enemies of the state, the other serves and protects the people. When the military becomes both, then the enemies of the state tend to become the people.

I’ve seen the impact of soldiers in the middle of two factions, usually there is a violent one they are facing, getting the full works from them and they will stand there all day taking it ,getting steadily more and more pissed off!they then get the order to move forward and believe me no prisoners are taken and then from the ‘peaceful faction stuff from them falls short on the soldiers who mistake that as an attack rear rank about turns and goes into them with the same attitude. Soldiers are not trained to the same level as the police it would be Army brutality all over the news! By the way I was in that second rank Belfast 1974!

You would know North Howard Street Mill then. Go out of the northern door and you're in The Shankill, the southern door you're in The Falls. Literally on the peace line.

So weird that TWTD was telling us water cannons were dreadful when Boris had them.

Not offhand we were in Antrim (RE) and only came down to a place in the markets area, something park if I recall correctly to do Engr tasks. We got caught up in the bother when we were opening up roads that had been blocked to stop car bombs! We got roped in to bolster the cordon while the plantys went about their business.

The Markets near the railway station on the northen edge of The Ormeau Road. I know Belfast from the air more than I know the ground. I was based at Aldergrove close to Antrim.

As soon as the stabbings had occurred and the news regarding who had committed it, i said to my other half, there is going to be mass riots in the streets every where and will get out of control. Similar to the 90's film "The Siege with Bruce Willis and Denzel Washington. Our Country is so predictable.
It was so so sad and as a father to a son around the girls ages who also goes to a similar dance group it has put the mockers up me completely.

Send in the navy then ;)
I wonder if they could get the HMS Queen Elizabeth up the Manchester Ship Canal (not a euphemism)
I think dropping ounces of purple haze, free football tickets (registration forms) and kebabs by drone would bribe them to go home. All they have to do is register their details to get the football tickets....knock knock the next morning.
They'll be getting something up the c-anal when doing time for the crime.

Wasn't the issue that his ones weren't able to be used legally in the UK?
Several of TWTD said water cannon were a tool of right wing fascist oppression when Boris suggested them. Ya Boy then pointed out they are regularly used in such far right despotisms as….France and Belgium. They then shifted the debate to “they’re illegal anyway”.

I've got a recently retired ex-builder (or at least a contract shuffler) near-neighbour who seems to play with his flame-thrower (weed burner) and his water cannon (pressure washer) all fkn day when the weather's nice. The compressor on the latter has been driving me nuts most of the afternoon and my work output has been critically affected. He's the sort of bloke who revs his strimmer all the time as well, no doubt as he takes the corners at fkn Donnington or somewhere.
Anyway, can I sign him up for the army, as he already has all the kit, and send him onto the front line?
