Thought he'd got a Rodrigo Moynihan, turned out he's got a Jackson Pollock.

It's a free hit. The Prime Minister in the year 2064 is unlikley to have the dilemma of whether or not to remove a painting of Keir Starmer from the wall.

How many paintings of the previous homeowners have you kept up in your house then?

Ah yes, an argument of the intellectually challenged variety. I'm on the left and I think this is petty.

How so? Genuinely don't see why Starmer should keep a portrait up of a former prime minister. Why would he?

Not really petty to take down the portrait of someone who ruined millions of lives, many communities, took away welfare safety nets and introduced the free market capitalism that has created such inequality in the present day. Seems almost reasonable.

Has he also taken down all the other portraits of former prime ministers? I'm guessing not. Why single out Thatcher?

it's not the staircase with all the pictures. thatcher remains there with all the rest of the good, the bad and the ugly. the question is, why single out thatcher as the only person to be hanging in the first place? [Post edited 29 Aug 2024 22:54]

By the looks of it there weren't other portraits to take down. It was a specially commissioned painting that Gordon Brown had done. It's clearly just a sensationalist story to get a kick out of Tories. It's probably been moved to a more appropriate place but that wouldn't be newsworthy What Keir decides to do in his study is entirely up to him.

Ah right, I assumed it was one among the others. Also, I find it odd that Gordon Brown commissioned it. Wouldn't have put him down as a fan of Thatcher!
