So. FULLTIME THOUGHTS. 17:22 - Oct 19 with 2849 views | FrimleyBlue | So the positives. Muric made some good saves Clarke looked healthy when he came on Good to see broadhead on the bench We didn't get overly out played. Taylor looked good again We are still not in the bottom 3 There still plenty of games to go Negatives We look lost We've lost any of that so called promotion momentum. We are at the start if a different phase of the project and it does have Hurst feeling about it all as Marshall mentioned earlier. KM for me is showing his learning of the league as a amanger and its coming across Clarke on the left can't work this season. He's miles off a prem player. Hutchinson is wasted centrally. If KM us going to get wins he's got to wake up to this. Morsy and Phillips.. too similar. Is it a case of one or? Burns. Feel for the bloke. He's threat is running. There us no point playing him if we aren't playing him through it makes him look rubbish as his game isn't quick feet around players that's never been his game so why play him if he's not being given the reign to get forward. O shea at rb. Never again please 100 mill spent and I don't even know what for tbh. We look dreadful. This wasn't the case only a few games ago so what's changed? Plenty of time to go in the season. But blimey it's the first time in Many seasons I'm not that shocked by a result.

So. FULLTIME THOUGHTS. on 17:28 - Oct 19 with 2689 views | Reus30 | Plenty of decent points but just on Burns. Last season it was Leif galloping down the left like no tomorrow and Wes had so much space to run into. Balls over the top, switches, in behind. This season, I can think of a couple instances where he hasn't been played in and the rest is to his head or to feet. Must be frustrating for the fella as it is for all the players.
So. FULLTIME THOUGHTS. on 17:29 - Oct 19 with 2655 views | Radlett_blue | Outclassed for the second consecutive game by another of the PL lesser lights. It's hard to see where a win is coming from. Too many mistakes in important areas. Clarke missed a sitter early on, then we gave Calvert Lewin a free chance & then 2 defensive errors set up their opener. Everton controlled the first 20 minutes of the second half, then sat back & absorbed some Town pressure. We kept going, but never really looked like scoring. [Post edited 19 Oct 2024 17:34]

It didn't play out like that tho. Davis broadhead luongo. Triangles... then a ball into Chaplin. Goal Now davis gets the ball. Clarke standing in the box and cms on halfway..

Wouldn't say outclassed. We rather gifted them the 3 points. Everton were nothing special.

The camera in the 2nd half showed an angle. Burgess had the ball burns was stood inside our own half. He didn't move. That not burns that's direction, so if he's directive is to stay deep. He's pointless being in that role as if he receives the ball deep he's pressed and he doesn't have the feet to get by. That's not a fault just not his game. We did the same when ogbene plays.

So. FULLTIME THOUGHTS. on 17:34 - Oct 19 with 2526 views | vilanovablue | A whole new team learning a new system. I thought we played well in spells today. Clarke was v unlucky with a bobble today. The pen decision baffled me, was it reviewed due to an error? If so how did the ref get a second look?
So. FULLTIME THOUGHTS. on 17:35 - Oct 19 with 2523 views | SitfcB | Really disappointed, has to be said. Don’t mind losing in this league but that was a bit pathetic today. No attacking intent whatsoever. Shambles at the back for the goals. Easy for Everton once 2-0 up. Bit of a non event second half. Annoyed. PS. Jack Clarke yet to impress me all season, shame. Should’ve at least got that effort on target. Poor.

Okay, Everton didn't pass the ball around us but the bottom line was 8 shots on target to 2 & we never really looked like scoring. They weren't anything special but they beat us comfortably.

Another leader on the pitch. It's unfortunate that Johnson went down too, as I imagine Clarke isn't ready for 90. For all the money spent only two new signings look worth it so far.

Disagree point. Axel was solid. But he alone wouldn't suddenly make us an attacking threat.

Id add that once again the physicality of established premier league teams is a stark contrast. Tarkowski could do a job at middle linebacker, we look like little boys in comparison. I am glad we finally put Hutch on right, really hope we see clarke (or broadhead), szomdics and hutch soon. Harry looked lively coming on, as did Chappers although his limitations at the level showed despite how hard he tried. I've observed stubborness in McK for his entire tenure, at home I refer to him at times as Sheldon McKenna, but not got into it on here for fear of the pile-on. It did cheer me up no end to see Fabio Freebie at half-time, honestly way to read a room...

I was hoping for some positive tweaks & a good reaction to the West Ham defeat. We faffed around with the ball less when near our own penalty area, apart from the ball being given away for a Calvert Lewin 1 on 1. That made sense. However, apart from one break when Clarke blazed over early on, we didn't really ever look like scoring & when we had a corner, the real danger was Everton on the break.

We didn't lay a glove on Everton until the last 15mins or so and even then didn't really trouble them. We gifted them 2 goals and if not for Muric it would have been 4 or 5. We were 2nd best all over the pitch,I'd say, that's pretty close to being outclassed.

He looks out of his depth, along with Philips. Him and Morsy together isn't working, we need Taylor's dynamism

So. FULLTIME THOUGHTS. on 18:07 - Oct 19 with 1998 views | ArnieM | My thoughts are as follow .... Same old thing each game isn't it. We Couldn't help the fact our first team defence was wiped out by injury and the 2nd string degence are weak, so conceeding goals from gifts yet again no surprise today. For me, McKenna MUST change his approach up front. Burns is not good enough. Rarely beats his man or puts in any decent crosses into the box. He's no threat at all. Omari is by far the better player, wide right. Delap doesnt hold the ball up so, its constantly coming back at us, nor does he make the CBs work, or pulls them all over the park, and he doesn't bring the other forwards into play. His first, and only thought when he gets the ball is to run at the defence and try and shoot. A lot more guile is needed at this level and it's not in his armoury atm. He's young and inexperienced. Hirst needs to come in. Szmodics needs to come in for Clarke. The latter spent most of the game trying to beat the whole Everton all on his own, often losing possession. I'd say both Delap and Clarkes naive play makes us much less potent in attack. We nowhere near a cohesive attacking unit with them both in the team. But my overridning thought is unless McKenna changes HIS approach and HE " learns from the game" we will continue to be prefer puff. Also week after week far too many players are making silly mistakes eg unforced errors, gifting goals to the opposition. So the question is, why? At least stop thuis trait and we might starting picking up points again.

He does offer an attacking threat on the right, even if it isn't to an extent that Clarke does. We had nothing on that side until the subs were made. I felt a bit for Burns for that reason. Tuanzebe is an accomplished right back. O'Shea is a centre back asked to play out of position. I wondered at one point if we should have switched him and Woolfenden around and see if the latter would have had more of an impact there.

Phillips, I am sorry hugely over rated. I haven't seen anything from O'Shea yet and why sign a 28 goal striker and barely play him?

Whilst Everton are down here currently, I wouldn't call them a 'lesser light', they've spent a small fortune on their existing squad Calvert-Lewin shouldn't be playing in a relegation battling side either, he's a class act Everton as a club should be aiming for the top half, they might not be there at the moment but they have a reasonably high shelf

So. FULLTIME THOUGHTS. on 18:43 - Oct 19 with 1535 views | ReusersTown | Not far off. I'm not sure 'being lost' and 'not being outplayed' can coexist really, from my vantage Everton may not have gone about it in the typical premier league possession style, but we were certainly outmanoeuvred and outplayed chance creation wise. Part of the promotion momentum being lost (which I think I agree with) to a degree is expected isn't it? They're not the same players. We had two directions to go in, we chose higher quality players over momentum and the determination that got us to this point.
