Man Utd game 06:48 - Nov 12 with 2516 views | victorysquad | Not convinced Amorin is really ready for Man Utd, I just don't think he has experience managing a club with that sort of expectation. I also think, if we start off hard and smash them early with a couple of goals, then we can quickly erode their players confidence. It seems we have 3 factors to consider - they may play with 3 centre backs, implement his high pressing philosophy (is this really any different to any other teams high press strategy?) and keep Fernandes quiet.

Man Utd game on 07:33 - Nov 12 with 2397 views | MattinLondon | I would imagine that the expectation at Sporting is very high - maybe not on a continental setting but definitely domestically. Their players will want to impress their new manager and after their last few results they will be high on confidence. Think the thing in our favour will be that he won’t have a complete understanding of our players or even his.

Also, due to the international break, his work permit situation meaning he can't actually coach yet and as he's booted out the tall, equine-looking diver from his coaching staff, he won't have many around him who know the players either. There may not be a better time to play them. [Post edited 12 Nov 2024 7:44]

I honestly think it's the worst time to play them. New man in and everyone wanting to impress. Not impossible but this will be a very tough game. They already have stabilised and built a bit of confidence and positive momentum under ruud. Time will tell but I think amorim looks a great appointment.

Man Utd game on 08:12 - Nov 12 with 2192 views | gainsboroughblue | Thinking positively, it might not be a good time for them to play us. PR will be rocking, especially after the shot in the arm of Sunday. Players will be confident and up for it. Kieran will want this one badly (no change there but especially so). It's difficult given the level we are at but we have to stop worrying about the opposition so much.

Back-to-back PL wins for KM vs his two previous employers. That’s just the stuff of dreams isn’t it

Extremely likely without looking. Klopp had been at LFC for about ten years with Van Gaal overlapping his tenure. Brendan Rodgers overlapping Ferguson and Moyes Dalglish and Fagan overlapping Atkinson and Ferguson Paisley at Anfield over a decade while Docherty and Sexton were at Utd. That's as far back as I can think and even then may have missed something.

Whilst I agree pressure is high, it isn't as high as Benfica (and Porto?) and the rest of the league bar Braga are not very good.............. The premier League you rarely get an easy game.
Man Utd game on 09:01 - Nov 12 with 1931 views | Vaughan8 | Surely he won't have enough time to put all he system/tactics etc he wants in place. Some players might not even get back until Thursday! However, a new manager, players keen to impress. It could go either way!

I wouldn't stray too far from what we had out Sunday tbh. Not sure how United will line up though I think Amorim favours a 3-4-3?

I have no idea, I read 4-2-2-2 somewhere else. I think playing like we did Sunday is a sensible idea, we have to show them a respect else else they will hurt us, but just not too much.

That was what I had assumed looking at the Leicester score - but the underlying data did not look so one-sided TBH. And it was Leicester.... I know that they have "better" players than us, but as I understand it Amorin's historic success has not been built on having 11 super-stars on the pitch at once - more about having a pattern of play that was hammered into them. If he is a purest, then there is a decent amount of risk for them if they try and adopt a new playing philosophy on the back of a handful of training sessions...
