Excluding the glory years of 1978 - 1982 (because we'd all just pick all of them, wouldn't we?), who of this squad would make the grade?
I'd say Leif, and purely on potential, Omari and Delap.

Edit: Ah! Glitch on my phone, thought I'd lost the thread, then I used the back browser and didn't notice I'd lost my wingers and no. 10. As for the XII, I can only blame a brain fart for that!
* My rules state you are allowed to have each player in their prime, not just when we had them at the club.

I would say Sam Morsy and Leif Davis would have a chance, but we have had some truly fine players, even after 1982. You could probably make 3 very decent sides. |  |

Indeed. Murphs was a tough one. I just went for classy CMs in Legs and Campo. But you are right. You could probably choose 3 teams!

I realise that you probably never saw them, but you haven't included the glory years of 57-62 , three titles and all that. If you did, then Bailey, Nelson, Elsworthy, Leadbetter, Crawford and Phillips would also displace some of the more recent names. [Post edited 12 Dec 2024 22:09]

To be honest the only current player that would even come close to consideration would be Tuanzebe for Taricco. If I picked a second XI Axel would be in the team, but none of the current squad would be. Hutchinson and Delap have the potential to maybe make the second XI - but they have a lot more prove before they would lock down a place.
I guess I should put my money where my mouth is and do a second XI.

Really good point - I only went back to 88 as that’s as far as I can recall, but I remember the buzz about him. He’d probably knock Murphy down to the 3rd XI and you’d see Marshall drop out. | | | |
