I really don’t want to keep reading, so and so is not up to it, so and so worst game of season. If you would like to look back and contribute to a discussion around how the players have adjusted to life in the PL and how we see the next half of season here is the place to do it!

January will see three or four decent recruits who see our second season form sky rocket with us ending about 15th, we then kick on next season and win the league like Leicester

Right I'll lay off the drugs

The worst case scenario is the reverse and we lose McKenna on relegation along with Phillips and Cajuste who we have to replace in the summer

I would hope we hit the ground running in the Championship as Burnley and the Blunts have and we have a relatively trouble free season in the Championship

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

I think most individuals have adapted pretty well, and some very well. I think that the start of the season was brave and a high octane approach where our adrenaline and commitment got us through a very tough start without being pumped.

I think we know believe that can compete here against the bottom seven at least. I think we've got a lot of team spirit compared to everyone else at the bottom and with a few judicious signings and a bit of luck with injuries, and with the magic that our manager brings, we've got a good fighting chance of staying up.

(I think a small but vocal proportion of supporters don't have the experience or perhaps the metaphorical cojones for being in a tough fight as an underdog, but I forgive them and try to ignore them.)

I suspect we'll also be having to replace Morsy. All three of our defence minded midfielders.
But we won't go down and we'll sign Cajuste and take KP on another season loan.

Think we’ve done ok. So frustrating that we didn’t beat Leicester as even with those 2 points and a home win the table would look quite different. Hopeful for the second half and think we’ll run Wolves close (and it could go either way).

Product premier league is an interesting one - not entirely convinced but it’s great to be at the top table after so long away. The great thing is that it must be very likely whatever happens this season that we’ll be in/or around it for the foreseeable, ie we’re competitive again.

End of season is going to be squeaky bum time.win away to Leicester in penultimate game, need to beat West Ham at Portman Road last day of season. Game ends in a draw but Brentford equalise against Wolves in 10th minute of injury time so we live to fight another season.

It’s not all about players having bad games and off days etc , how about the opposition is much more streetwise /athletic, stronger and for sure more experienced for our current squad .
Our whole club is on an extremely high learning curve , this project will not be completed overnight, have patience and keep the faith .

Luongo probably moves on and a longer term successor for Morsy is needed

I actually think our best pair is Phillips and Cajuste much as Morsy has been great for us but time will tell

We have a loan army getting minutes in the Championship and slightly below, that may serve us well

If we do get that magic striker, Ali Al-Hamadi goes out on loan and continues his development

We're a team who have had a double bounce and what a ride,
Testament to any player from any club who has one of them in the premier league how many do we have 6 +,
The adjustment is such a huge gap that even for our talented players is going to take time a lot of it,
We're approaching half way and we're in more games than we're not,
Right here we go we need to replicate this a lot in the second half of the season,
That's a challenge,
Our damage this season so far isn't city Liverpool arsenal,
It's the should have done games, that's cost dear this is what has to change drastically and now, or were down with a whimper,
I'd hate that give the next 20 a real good go go down by one or two points there will be regrets on the early season games but we didn't get here by not giving it a go,
Go town go

Agreed. It's really tiresome and short-termist. Without wanting to get all ElephantInTheRoom, there's an element on here who have only ever known the instant gratification of the Sky era and have vastly over-inflated expectations. The same people who shout, "SHOOOOOTTTTT!!!!" from 30 yards out (!).

My take on this year is that it's a trial run for the 2026-7 season when we're actually ready for a proper stab at the Premier League, hopefully with a slightly more tactically-savvy Kmc who's learned from managing in the top flight. I'd have been happier seeing us challenging last season for the playoffs and drawing back the bow for a proper shot rather than going up before we're really ready.

Just enjoy it for what it is: a sneak preview and a chance to get the infrastructure up to snuff.

McKenna isn't necessarily learning in the top flight, he knows what's needed (or exactly what we need) but doesn't have the tools to do it.

Look at Arsenal last night and not a single player of ours gets in their team imho.

In the Championship, you'd look at teams and think there's very few players you'd want to replace ours.

We're doing absolutely fine, as expected.

A bit of luck and a fair win and we could pick up a couple of wins and things could look dramatically different.

Still very content with where we are.

Still think we could do it, but it's a tough ask.

Oh and there's nothing wrong with a shooooooot from 30 yards ;-) lol! (or even 40 for me)

Yeah, that's fair. I really meant, re KMc, that managing at the top level is different from coaching under someone else. I'm very happy we have him.

"Shooottt!!!"? Nah, not having that :-D

I’m feeling a lot more positive after The Emirates performance on 15:20 - Dec 28 with 1542 viewsunstableblue

Chelsea at home marks the midway game of the season.

Maresca is tinkering a little and they’re on a draw and a loss. So may give some more space/joy than Arsenal.

Arsenal were extremely good defensively and in transition, quick interplay, and after the Newcastle battering and given our second half display there are some reasons to be cheerful/positive.

I think defensively our centre backs are now stepping up to the level - OShea is a great but. As is Greaves. And we have Burgess in rich form. Wolfie looked Ok last night.

Davis was massively improved defensively last night.

I liked the Cajuste and Phillips combo. And Taylor is probably a surprise package in how comfortable he looks.

The loss of Axel has been huge.

Our more robust shape last night worked well bar some errors in blocking a cross last night.

And for all Muric detractors he is getting better, is a great shot stopper, commands his box on crosses, his short game is improving, just needs to work on distribution and fully eradicating errors. No interest in replacing him.

It’s going forward where we need some recruitment and energy… we need to see the much missed Hirst as a luxury player… who may get injured again… bolster with another centre forward. Jack Clarke can make it… need to be patient

Omari has been worse than him in the last two games… and needs a rest and a confidence boost.

We’re 3 points and GD off safety… we need a few wins in Jan/Feb (Brighton and saints at PR becomes huge). And some recruitment.

But we are not a million miles from competing, and we should have 4-6 more points than we have.

Stick with McKenna and the boys and let’s hope for a good January window.

This isn’t over by any means. We’ve got a result in 8 games out of 18 with a relatively weak squad.

I'm expecting us to sign a couple of players in Jan with Prem experience, although I'm also expecting all the teams towards the bottom of the league to sign a couple of players. So I'm guessing it will come down to which team new players add the most.

Overall all players have done well to adopt, all have given 100%, but the step up is massive. Fans were moaning Leif wasn't taken to the Euros, even talk about is there a better LB, but many times he's been exposed this season. That is not about singling out Leif as I think he has progressed but just an example of the size of the gap between the championship and the PL.
That is the same for all the players and the Mgr, all are on a major learning curve.

It won't be easy, but I won't change my mind from the start of the season I still think we'll finish 4th from bottom.

Going forward, I still don't see many better English full backs frankly

What's the nationality of the lad at Fulham, he looks quite promising?

Mitchell at Palace look very good defensively whilst Hall at Newcastle is probably a mixture of the two, a bit more solid defensively than Leif and a bit better going forward than Mitchell but not as good as Leif

The Arsenal youngster playing as an inverted full back is being hyped up by Arsenal fans and was defensively sound but looked bang average going forward, riding the coat tails of more talented team mates. He's a Rico Lewis lite version, solid if unspectacular.

Alcohol is the answer but I can't remember the question!

Surprise of the season for me is Morsy. I feared he’d reached his ceiling, but he could probably play in the likely upcoming global super league and still make it look easy.

What it has shown is there is huge leap from the top of the Championship to the bottom of the EPL. We’ve certainly competed, but we are very much Luton of last season. We desperately need a couple of quality/shrewd signings to allow us to get over the line in games and to pick up a few more points during this second half of the season. I’ve just been disappointed in how we’ve played against sides in and around us. Wolves aside, we’ve been a distant second best and never looked like taking points off of Everton, Crystal Palace and West Ham. They all kept us comfortably at arm’s length.
