The ban will no doubt come in immediately now

Are the two scenarios allowed to go together in hand?

Can't say I know the rules on that.

The FA have made a monumental mess of this unlike the EFL that seem capable of functioning when teams are still paying.

Any suspension is supposed to be a punishment to the player and Wolves not serve it when injured!!

Suspensions are handed out by the FA. I doubt that the EFL look at matches injured along with the PL.

Well quite, whatever else the current situation is that someone that should clearly have been banned is being rewarded, as are his club.

Wolves will just lie and claim he is fit anyway, so the ban will be while he is recovering from injury. Starting to despise Wolves. Not too sure if fitness to play affects a ban TBH

You get the point. EFL players have been punished for games since we played Wolves and the FA allowed Cunha to play on and get injured so if he gets a ban now there is no justice for the other teams in the EPL

The FA should wait until Wolves play him again before bringing in the ban but we all know it will come now he's ruled out, meaning no real punishment for his disgusting behaviour.

What I don't understand is that he assaulted someone after the final whistle. It wasn't a player and it wasn't in the context of the match itself. Why isn't he facing police charges?

How often is a violent act on a football field subject to police action ?

Generally when a fan is involved but I believe Joey Barton's actions have on at least one occasion.

How often do you see a player assault an opposition coach after the final whistle?

Tim Sherwood just commented on Wolves - ‘they have the dark arts off to a T’…….. cheats in other words.

To be fair, he was referring to League 1-style time wasting. He said the ball was hardly in play since they equalised. It is poor that even Premier League referees are unable to prevent that happening.

Sorry to be all rational about this, but ultimately he’s still going to miss however many games he’s banned for. If he’d already been banned, he probably wouldn’t be injured now.

Good point that. Even so, it stinks.

Do you think the 7 points his team has gained whilst he has remained available while on good form might matter?

He may well have got injured in training too and still missed those matches alongside the 3 he has played.

Can't see that there have been any FA hearings into EFL charges since Cunha was charged. Only hearing I can see is Rodrigo Bentancur's appeal against an earlier suspension, which presumably had been set up a while beforehand.

Didn't Duncan Ferguson do time for it? I admit that is one example among 100s of incidents that don't have that consequence.

Villa appealed Duran's red card which got upheld and a Carlisle player sent off on boxing day has been overturned so available for today.

Assume these are a different 'process' to the one Cunha going through then?

The FA could have set a hearing on 20th or 23rd Dec for Cunha, there can be very little mitigating circumstance that mean an elbow to the back of someone's head is acceptable.

Overturning a red card which is incorrect in law is an entirely different and much simpler process than hearing an extraordinary misconduct charge. The FA will need to assemble an independent panel for the hearing and agree a date upon which the defendant and witnesses can attend.

Indeed, a different process for red card appeals.

Never involving players and nor should it, and the same applies to all sports. I know we're talking handbags in this case, but some on play incidents over the years could be classed as ABH. To have the police involved would open up a right can of worms.

Likewise suspensions never have taken into account injuries. If his suspension coincides that's just the way it is and has always been.

The ultimate skullduggery approach would be for our steward to put in an allegation to the Police now. Then the FA will have to defer the disciplinary case until due legal process is complete.

Once Cunha is back training the steward could withdraw the complaint. Then the FA disciplinary process would begin.

Maximum time out.

Not that I would advocate it, just an observation.

Disagree. There is a difference between a sporting incident and an intentional assault. If a player starts swinging punches and does serious injury, that is a police matter.

Not saying it’s right, but all our bitching and moaning doesn’t change the fact that Wolves have played the system in their favour currently, and have followed the rules played out.

We need to put on our big boy pants suck it up and win some points of our own.
