Yep. It’s another one of those articles that ‘reports’ on the comments of the terminally fim on Twitter. Just clickbait.

Reporting on the terminally dim of twitter sounds like a job on the level of painting the Forth bridge. [Post edited 13 Jan 17:19]

Didn't she also post a picture of terrified children last year... until she realised they were Palestinian children and decided their plight doesn't matter so deleted it?

Then she should say that, rather than reference something like Gaza - it's a poorly thought comment. If it was like Gaza then she would not have been allowed to move her and her family out of the impacted area . . . . | | | | Login to get fewer ads

Resembles = Has a similar appearance to. She's comparing the flattened buildings to those in Gaza. She's not comparing the treatment of LA residents to that of those in Gaza. (unless I'm missing something) [Post edited 13 Jan 18:41]

My point is that people need to be more careful about throwaway comments referencing situations like Gaza. Whatever she meant, she should have thought about how it would get interpreted. One of the considerations we have always been advised to think about at work is that should your comments (email / social media etc) end up in the higher profile media, how could they be interpreted and what would be the reputational impact. It's thoughtless and poorly considered, irrelevant of intention.

Fair enough. You are reading the comment differently to me.

indeed, the effort people will go to to be offended is remarkable.
| And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show |

Maybe if your home neighbourhood had been completely burned to the ground your thoughts would be "poorly considered". It's one of those things that maybe 60 years ago a decent Editor would have said "Let's not quote that." And then clickbait AI amplifies it and turns an off the cuff quote into something that resembles a Press Statement. Top career tip, guys and gals: if a member of the media ever asks you to appear on camera, tell them to fck off. You have nothing to gain, and everything to lose by talking to them.
