The real mistake was a horrendous pass from Axel. Firmly hit, off the ground and directly at goal.
Let's stick to the 2 actual goals conceded rather than trying to bash him with a hypothetical 3rd caused by someone else's mistake.

We were firing backpasses back at Hladky like that all last season, confident that he'd deal with them. A modern keeper with good feet would have controlled it. This doesn't only help with starting attacks by playing out from the back, it's important defensively that under-pressure defenders have the confidence to use the keeper rather than concede corners and throws, or risk trying to turn and dribble past the striker on their heels.
As we're seeing this season, a keeper with good feet is an integral component of McKennaball. [Post edited 2 Feb 15:34]

Iām not sure why heās getting grief for the first goal to be honest. Itās not his fault we didnāt cut out the cross and left two men on the penalty spot, either of which could have had a free shot. Oh, and their player was also standing right in front of him. |  |
