do we have a keeper problem 13:46 - Mar 16 with 2643 viewspositivity

for next year?

looking likely that palmer will be our number 1 next year, and surely it'll be time for slicker to get a decent loan move (championship or maybe scotland)

however, to make this possible we need a good number 2, will either of the others be kee to be a championship back-up?

-muric has already won the championship with burnley and played plenty of prem games, will it be too much of a step down? can see a move (possibly abroad)

-walton has already had a full season as championship back-up, will he want to go elsewhere to be number 1 and prove himself?

looks like we may need to recruit or borrow, don't get any indication that the kids are ready to step up.

thoughts?

I would imagine that would be a fairly simple one to solve unlike CM and ST.

Truly impaired.

but can you see muric or walton staying?

there's been endless chat about centre-mid (rightly so, there's more parts to move) and striker (which seems simpler, just bring in someone to relace delap and compete with hirst), but not seen much on the gk

A back up to Palmer is, I would think very low on the list of our problems to solve for next year. The only problem might be shifting Muric on and getting rid of his wages

I very much like the look of Slicker, so I'd say keep him, see if we can offload Muric with Morsy to Saudi (the latter going with all the love), and Walton - he may make that call

Not really a problem, we can choose who we keep as No 1 (presume Palmer) and then make a decision on others.

Talking of keepers, David Raya shocker against Chelsea today but ball rolled wide, you just know if that had been Muric it would have gone in the net.

Small margins and luck play a huge part in this game.

Hmm I wouldn't call bringing in a striker that easy considering the issues we've had since Gamechanger came in!

yes, you just know that if muric had kicked it against cajuste it'd have gone in the goal rather than for a corner!

same end result, but delap and greaves get blamed rather than palmer and cajuste!

Since Gamechanger came in we have brought in Delap and Hirst on permanent deals, and Kieffer Moore on loan at a vital point last season. And if we can include support strikers, Sammie Szmodics as well on a permanent.

That's not terrible business, is it?

Muric would have got slaughtered for that regardless of where the ball ended up, yet with our other keepers everyone just shrugs and says well things happen sometimes.

Wasn't the only mistake Palmer made either yesterday, the one where he didn't grab the ball and Leif then managed to kick it so he couldn't pick it up and instead of just booting it tries to play it out, if Forest weren't 3-0 to the good and not paying more attention that would have been a tap in.and by far the worst goal, which is saying alot considering how poor the others were

Recouping a good chunk of the Muric fee could be Ashton's biggest challenge yet. Maybe we can get a Saudi club to splash out on him

i think we loan him out, if his confidence goes up, his fee goes up, can't see us getting a decent fee without a good loan spell (not ruling him out of returning if it goes very well either)

Season on season we haven't had the depth required at the end of August. We managed to scramble in the winter transfer window 2023 and 2024 but not this time around.

Palmer coming in and being on the whole very good, has done Muric no favours at all. He's getting worse the longer the season goes on without even playing.

Think he's maybe getting a lack of respect for his early season form, he's made some brilliant saves especially the one on ones. If we can forgive Clarke and Philogene, plus a few others, for being terrible in the PL but also be excited to see them in the Championship, we can do the same with Muric.

Muric will stay unless we can pull the wool over some chump in the recruitment department at one of the three promoted sides. Walton is probably sick of playing second fiddle so suspect he will leave.

Every year has necessitated a rather thorough rebuild though, on account of roaring, unexpected success and the shambles left after the Evans era

i think a move abroad is more likely (where's kompany now!).

i hope we don't go for a loan fee though, a couple of friendlies should do it!

I'd like to see Palmer as our number one in the Championship and Slicker as his understudy. Feel like it's time.

Walton needs regular football and I don't see a future here for Muric after this season - loan him out or hope someone offers a fee and cut our losses.
