After just watching Sheffield United get similarly outplayed by Birmingham…I’d definitely take Hamer given any opportunity. He’s Morsey Mark II

100% agree, thought we should try and get him this time last year

Brum got a relatively new group really clicking really quickly. Fair play.

Agree or Hamer, should've signed him last summer - cracking goal too.

How was the game, by September, if they have had a better summer recruiting coming up from League 1 than we have coming down it will be a little depressing!

They seem to be backing up the hype for now.

One pairing cost £21m+ the other about £3m.....Kyogo was not a player I expected to see in the Championship this season, he's a real talent.

So why are we struggling to sign a striker after so long while Brum can swoop in and get players like Kyogo?

Yet...

Not being negative but some of our fanbase do seem to be ignoring some big financial facts this off season!

They are on a similar high to us coming out of L1.

Players full of confidence and buoyed further by new additions.

Good players I agree, but confidence/momentum is a huge factor with Birmingham and similar to us, they built a (majority) Championship squad in L1.

We didn't do much at all that off season, they got real talent in the door, of course there is momentum associated with it but they've got some serious business done.

It's not similar to us as they're replacing all the players. Not sure that's how momentum works.

They have some in there from last year but made big money moves then as well. The difference is they are landing their ambitious targets, it appears we are failing to do so.

Honestly neither Kyogo or Stansfield fit our system. The only one out of those four who does is Hirst.

As it's been said we're operating to an extent in a different window entirely, more aligned with the PL. Other than Hackney you've no evidence we're not landing or targets. Cajuste & Matusiwa seem pretty ambitious to me though.

I mean Apkom was heading there for a medical and seemed to swoop in once we were alerted to the player (maybe he was on our list), so I am sure it's entirely different in terms of the talent we are trying to acquire.

Hackney clearly was our main play of the summer to an extent but they have a few weeks left to impress me yet!

What is our system this season? We don’t create chances and look vulnerable to quick attacks on the break.

When our midfield and strikers gel we will be fine. We have to be patient with new signings and lack of preseason.

There was even a couple signs in our rubbish performance Friday I thought. The Taylor chance first half came from Hirst hold up play and get the wide guys involved. A few decent interchanges second half led to moments.

Wait until we get Cajuste in there, we just need to try and struggle through and attempt to hit near 2 points a game for the first 6 weeks of the season. Wins will come for sure and that just automatically changes the narrative.

Sunday we really need to avoid losing though, that feeds into us being in a bit of trouble to start the season.
