West ham looking stronger and quicker in the opening 20 minutes. They are not dominating or creating much, but we know from last season, these Prem teams don't do anything special, until they do! One or two moments of slick play and the game has gone.
I hope Sunderland survive too, though. If we are to go back up then we need one or teams that haven't been pumped full of at least 3 or 4 years worth of Premier League Dosh. | | | |

It's better than 17 teams being 3 or 4 years ahead of us.
Anyway, we didn't blow it last season. We tried buying PL experience, they understandably didn't want to come to a team who a year earlier had been in L1. We therefore did the next best thing and get some really good good Championship players in who all being well will grow with the club and/or earn us a lot of money in sales.
I thought it was actually a really sensible transfer policy from us. | |

Think that's a fair assessment. My minimum hope for last season was still being in with a chance of staying up at the end of the season and perhaps a decent tally of points at the start off an opening day win and getting all that "first win in 22 years" monkey off our back might have enabled us to take it further. | |

Our very expensive EFL English only recruitment policy was really so questionable and Sunderland have proved that isn’t “all you can do” despite many telling me that was the case all last year. They look like giants compared to what we were fielding last year!
How can they field that starting Midfield in August and were had Morsy + Mass and brought Taylor and Harness on against Liverpool, not that this summer feels much different! |  |
