Think in some ways this is better - let the season get into more of a flow and then have a bit of a longer break. Teams with fewer international players will benefit from a decent training block - be a bit crap for teams with lots of players away though. | |

Its strange because the more international football there is, the more I go off it, to the point I just watch the major tournaments, which have also been diluted. I'm sure some people must be the same.
I was/am against this nations league rubbish too, but one good thing I think it does is it helps the smaller countries. San Marino got a few goals against their minnow rivals, which they never get the opportunity to do in these qualifiers as the lower seeds and many groups.
Personally I would get the minnows to do their own groups to get into the main groups, reduce the games for the bigger countries as they're going to (nearly always) qualify anyway!
However, I fully understand these countries want to play the top teams (despite getting thrashed most of the time) for status and money. | | | |

I agree whole heartedly. The current system is awful for fans, awful for clubs, awful for national teams.
If you could split the season into two International periods, 3 weeks in November and 4/5 weeks in June/ July. Everyone would be happier.
As fans you'd actually get into the flow of qualifiers/ Nations League and the evolution of the International team. As an international manager you'd get some proper time to bed in culture etc.

i disagree. We now don't have any summers without some sort of international tournament finals. The players need a break (I would ban clubs from going off to play marketing friendlies in the close season). Most fans would welcome a break as well. I no longer am longing for football to resume in August. | |

How about taking a leaf out of international Rugby.
The league goes on minus a couple of players.
Surely with the depth of squads, let’s take Chelsea as an example, it’s not that difficult.
The other solution is stop playing completely useless international, third rate teams, nobody cares.
Let them play offs against each other so they then qualify to play seeded clubs.
I don’t want to watch San Marino’s group of a post office workers etc etc. | | | |

Some kind of equivalent of the FA Trophy for the lower FIFA ranked clubs would be better for them IMO. Run it as a straight knockout with the semis and final being played in the same country/venues as the main World Cup at the beginning of the World. | |

Infantino has been chucking money at the smaller FIFA nations for years to secure his position. The travel costs for some international games are tiny compared with some of the money that has been moved around!
