Anyone else feel a little dirty when small numbers of fans cheered Norwich’s goals in the fanzone yesterday.

By all means enjoy the fact they are taking points off one of our rivals, but do so with quiet internal acknowledgment rather than a public voicing of celebration of Norwich goals, especially at Portman Rd.

Yeah that was a bit cringey wasn’t it?

I certainly wasn’t disappointed but I wouldn’t be cheering their goals.

Hopefully we’ll be cheering ITFC goals at Carrow Rd in a few days time.

I went up to a group of them at Liverpool Street last night and thanked them in person for their winning goal.

They hated it.

pmsl -

Clearly they'd have been aware of the importance to us - think they have a very small chance of playoffs - be good to put a final nail in that Saturday

I wouldn't if it were saving us from relegation. But when we're above them and going for promotion, then a modest expression of delight at Norwich doing over one of our rivals is acceptable, in my book.

I was driving back from bandit country yesterday and managed to get Radio Norfolk on FM (to get their commentary) all the way back as far as Ipswich. Cheering in the car when Robert Rosario or whoever they have now managed to find the net. Quite enjoyed being a car-budgie for an hour or so.

But the commentators on there are bloody awful. I think I've listened before because I recognised the voice - high-pitched faux excitement and manic over-positivity. We really are lucky to have Brenner Woolley.

Good work by Philogene...... GREAT WORK BY PHILOGENE!!!

Agree, never cheered but I felt content.

Was funny when everyone cheered, realised what they had done, then booed after.
I cheered for Millwall conceeding NOT nodge scoring.

I wasn't in the fanzone but I did cheer their goal. It was a subdued fist clench and a 'get in' though. I have no time for Norwich like the next man, but it was a big result for us.

The perfect antidote for wanting them to win and having a big grin on my face when they scored was to go to the toilet straight away and piss on the urinal screen in Isaacs 👍

We have no village green, or a shop. It's very, very quiet. I can walk to the pub.

That's the spirit in which all who cheered (internally or externally) cheered, surely?

It's funnier that all of their fans will have had a slight sinking feeling in the pit of their stomach as they celebrated a notable comeback Away win.

Are people Ipswich fans first and foremost?

Assuming the answer is yes, then I presume they want whatever is best for ITFC.

Therefore, Millwall losing was the best outcome for us.

Funnily enough i heard somebody say similar in the Swan and Hedgehog yesterday.

What wasn’t funny was that he was talking to someone on the phone whilst in the toilet cubicle - he left without washing his hands.

Nope. Happy to cheer a goal that takes points from a promotion rival. My priority is always what's best for Ipswich Town.

I entirely get what you mean and it's not an unreasonable position.

First and foremost I am an Ipswich Town fan, not a Norwich City hater, as much as the two go hand in hand. Personally I was cheering Millwall conceding rather Norwich scoring.

Besides, in the FanZone it felt the cheering was done a little tongue-in-cheek with panto booing straight afterwards and lots of us chuckling at the irony of cheering a Norwich goal.

We aren't alone. I'm sure Arsenal fans have cheered Spurs goals against Liverpool, Man City etc for example.

Rangers fans may be in a situation where they are cheering Celtic goals in the last game of the SPL season.
