There is no getting away from it. It is almost the dream game.

On the beach. Their best player is injured. Their 2nd best player is only fit enough for the bench. No win in 5.

Obviously its not straight forward and the way this season has gone I'm sure we will make hard work of it. But we should be winning.

They have the 2nd worst defence in the league, only better than Wednesday.

But apparently they were all over Derby and should have scored more than 2. It'll be nervy if they score first. Or we get a dodgy sending off.

Really hope we start as we finished against Southampton and get an early goal

No win in 5, we have only 1 in last 5, sounds like 2 teams out of form going up against each other.

true although we have played in very close proximity

West Brom away-Form team in the league
Southampton away-Form team in the league
Pompey away-Form team in the league
Boro-promotion rival

They have had
Swansea and Bristol at home and Preston away in that run.

Come on. You're one of the most glass-half-empty posters on here. But surely you can't compare our recent schedule to QPR's drop-off?

Rangers are part-on the beach, part-riddled with injured/fatigued senior players with nothing to play for.

We couldn't wish for a better opponent on Saturday.

I agree we could be facing a more difficult opponent but on the day anything can happen and form goes out of the window. Let’s face it how many of us expected us to lose to Maidstone at home in the Cup the other year, I certainly didn’t.

These posts have a habit of coming back to bite you on the you know where!

Cautiously optimistic, this team hasn't take that step trough the door yet and they've missed some opportunities this season to really put teams under the pump.

Until they've done it it's hard to say with certainty that they will.

Most of what I have said is factual tbf. Doesn't mean we will win, but we really should do.

'On the Beach' isn't factually correct!! That's the only part you could argue against.

They aren't *actually* on the beach, but metaphorically, you couldn't find a better 'beachy' team right now.

Second worst defensive record. Missing 3+ senior defenders and their only senior right back. Their top 2 strikers (Burrell and Kone) likely missing. It really leaves Vale as their only danger man.

There's lots of uncertainty surrounding their manager's future too. All of their stats suggest they aren't the kind of team capable of parking the bus and grinding a 0-0 to play the party pooper role.

Out of interest, why does form go out of the window?

There is nothing unique about this game for them apart from the fact they will all be going on holiday on Monday.

Maidstone had all the motivation in the world that day, it's not even remotely comparable apart from the fact that Ipswich Town could lose a game of Football they shouldn't.

Everything about this game should inspire confidence.

"Most"

They have their summer holidays soon, hopefully they don't want to try too hard. Might get an injury that would stop them going in the pool.

I've spent the day mentally turning them into Brazil 1970 so god knows how good they'll be by Saturday.

Absolute no pressure on QPR for this game and in some ways you could call it a free hit for them. Yes, everything points to a home win given our record at Portman Road and the various problems they have but I do get the impression that some of our fans seem to think that it is a case of we just need to turn up and the 3 points are ours.
In a one off pressure game which it certainly is for us form can go out of the window depending on how the team deals with the pressure. The one thing I would say is we have been in this end of season situation on a couple of occasions in the past few years and having that experience could very well help us now.
If I was a betting man then I would put a small wager on us doing it on Saturday but certainly wouldn’t put my house on it.

But there has been no pressure on QPR for the last 3 games and they've lost all 3. They will be no more freed up this weekend then they have been for the last few.

Equally, every one of our last 5 games has been high pressure and on the whole we have dealt with it.

This weekend is just a continuation of what has already been occurring. Form does not go out the window.

I anticipate a good QPR team with good players but lets not dress it up as something it isn't. This is 2nd vs 14th and we have every chance of getting a good result.

I keep reading posts like this to convince myself we will win on Saturday but currently I have 2 competing scenarios in my head.

In one we over-run QPR in the 1st half, 3-0 up and Burns scores a (possibly) farewell goal in front of the north stand.

In the second scenario we are a bag of nerves and suffering from the travel and intensity of the last few games. Concede an early goal to comedy defending then have to lay siege to the QPR goal for 70 minutes searching for an equaliser and winner. Torture!

Happily, Millwall have lost their last 4 at home to Oxford too.

Banter option would be we lose to QPR, but Millwall and Middlesboro lose/draw as well so we limp over the line. That would be the most fitting outcome for the season.

Have we got Ladapo up front and Humphreys LW?

Pretty sure that was a flat pre NYE game when we had a tone of availability problems after Leicester!

Poll: Ok gut feeling then, promotion?
