| So if we are to stay up next season, which three cubs are most likely to finish on 17:26 - May 18 with 2374 views | Herbivore | The other two promoted sides, then I'm going to predict a dose of second season syndrome for Sunderland. They've outperformed their underlying stats this season (yes, yes, I know) by quite a margin and are bottom 3 in many xPts tables. They've done incredibly well but can see them finding it tricky to maintain. Also think it's possible Palace have a slump post-Glasner, and Forest look a bit of a mess off the pitch. I've given up predicting that Brentford will struggle. | |

| So if we are to stay up next season, which three cubs are most likely to finish on 17:29 - May 18 with 2353 views | TheBoyBlue | I would've thought Forest are more likely than Brentford. Forest's owner has taken them from almost getting them into the Champions League to turning them into a basket case of a club in a few months. He is certainly capable of taking that further, although also capable of getting it right by complete chance as he did with Cooper and Nuno. Brentford meanwhile are an extremely well-rung club, seems to get almost every decision right. I see no reason for them being in trouble. I suppose there's the possibility of second-season syndrome for Sunderland and maybe Leeds, but otherwise it's hard to pick out any other clubs who we can expect to be better than. | |

Ideally Sunderland will sneak into Europe.

Europe in the season after promotion, what could possibly go wrong?

| So if we are to stay up next season, which three cubs are most likely to finish on 17:39 - May 18 with 2262 views | radiogaga | I think the time has come to give Brentford the same level of respect that Brighton and Bournemouth receive. I think their ability to weather the mass exodus of the group and manager that took them to the best period in their history, and in fact outperform it this season, is testament to what a proactive durable and brilliantly run club they are. Fulham if they lose Marco Silva could be ones to watch, but much like this season it will need 40 points or thereabouts to be considered in with a chance of staying up. The league is as strong as it’s ever been now, in the sense of how capable anyone is of beating anyone. [Post edited 18 May 17:46]

Presumably one of Leeds, Sunderland, Forest, Palace and Fulham but all of those are streets ahead of us at the moment which underlines the need for a total overhaul in players.

Exactly right. Also need Palace to win the conference league and get another year of Europe with a new manager and no Adam Wharton.

Could there be a similar situation with a so called 'big' club, as opposed to those already mentioned, getting sucked into a relegation fight as Spurs have this season - someone like Newcastle or Everton or have they steadied enough to be unlikely?

I wish Everton would go down. Such a dull team and a dull manager.

Would also be rather amusing seeing that stadium hosting Championship games, in the same way as if Spurs were to go down.

Just have an inkling. They have only beaten one team (West Ham) since March after a fantastic first half of the season. Loads of draws. Very reliant on Thiago. Scored 22 next best is 7. If they lose him (likely) and don't replace his goals, I feel they might struggle. Having said that they do have a knack of unearthing gems!

Agree about Fulham but as I mentioned above Brentford have been hugely reliant on Thiago goals and have won very few games since Feb.

Palace might be one to watch. New manager and European football. May do a Forest but without the late season upturn in form.

Would make a nice change for Ipswich to get that sort of luck.

People said the same when they lost Toney, then the same again when they lost Mbuemo and Wissa (and their head coach at the same time). They've somehow built ridiculous foundations there.

They both have good managers, so I find it unlikely. Silva reported as maybe leaving Fulham and the Palace manager has already announced that he will go, so think they are more likely. It's going to be tough and our recruitment has to be far better than last time. We need experience, not potential.
