This is all games, the price and floating us is just goading the other mid and lower Prem teams to have a punt too, he will get a move but we won't be the only option.
Jaden should probably have switched to his agent instead.

Not sure that was the case? Reports said he preferred an established prem team, and that we lowballed.
I don't think we would lowball simply because he said he would prefer a bigger club, I don't think we would bother to submit any bid in that situation.
I think MA has rolled the dice, and as yet no other club appears interested by offering a firm bid. Maybe that got him thinking (well his agent) that if he wants out, Town is his only option at the moment, and discussions in the background MA has told them the max package we will pay is X and if Lev are demanding Y and the player wage demand is Z then currently Y + Z = above X, so either Y or Z has to decrease.

The interest was always reciprocated in my view and now it’s becoming clearer. Do hope we get it sorted before the bigger teams scramble and get desperate at the end of the window.

Sees us as his only chance then as no other PL club is interested?
Im wondering if we need to dodge this player now... hasn't he got a poor injury record?
You want to avoid a player who it is suggested has said they want to play for us? Usually fickle fans say they only want players who want to play for us, so this is a different angle.
Bayer Leverkusen Appearances by Season 2025–26: 25 matches — Limited to 18 Bundesliga games after undergoing major groin surgery. 2024–25: 38 matches — Stayed mostly fit and played a major role across domestic and Champions League games. 2023–24: 36 matches — Key engine room starter during Xabi Alonso’s historic undefeated Bundesliga title run. 2022–23: 34 matches — Solidified his place as a regular starter in midfield. 2021–22: ~30 matches — Bothered by recurring hamstring strains throughout the season. 2020–21: ~13 matches — Missed most of the year following a severe spine fracture. 2019–20: 7 matches — Joined mid-season in January and went through an adaptation phase.
So all in all not incredible but not that bad either. The spine injury was some time ago and groin surgery last season isn’t deemed that big a deal, especially these days.. Example : Alan Shearer: Underwent major groin surgery in his mid-20s and went on to become the all-time top scorer in Premier League history, playing at an elite level past age 35.

Also worth flagging that he would be one game a week here at Town whereas Leverkusen have European competitions midweek.
I guess the worry is that his agent is using our interest to agree the terms of a deal, and then a Villa / Newcastle jump in.
Check out this thread if you want an insight to the player!

Not as poor as being made out. I hope Jaysees doesn't mind me pasting this from the Blue Monday forum, as it's his post:
"Missed Sep to Jan last season with an Adductor injury but fit thereafter, missed opening 3 games of 24-25 with a knee injury, missed a month with a muscle injury in 23-24 (5 games), a month plus 2 weeks with separate muscle injuries in 22-23 (8 games)
Unavailable for 16/102 league games across those 3 seasons, plus another 15/34 last season".

Sometimes I think about the frothing lunatics I’ve put on ignore, who will have kept replying to me again and again, but I don’t even realise they exist.

I don’t get the wow part honestly. There wouldn’t have been this much noise if there was no chance of it happening.
As I said before an official bid was made there would have been a lot of discussions with his representatives.
I think the “wow” is just the general sense of disbelief that we can even contemplate signing a player with his profile and the vast difference compared to our previous efforts, only 2 years ago. Mixed with a bit of “I’m not getting my hopes up” obviously.

Would think we could easily push the deal as a win-win for both parties - include a reasonable release clause expiring at the end of next June (say 40-45m?). If he wants to play in the Prem, and no side currently wants to take a risk on him then we would be the perfect shop window for him.
If he joins us, pays well, keeps us in the Prem then he will have more than covered his costs. If it goes tits up then Im sure some Saudi club would come in and offer to take him off our hands for a minimal loss (if at all)

The wow is definitely justified imo. World Cup winner, champions of Germany plus many more notable honours if you can be bothered to look. He’s only 27 and been playing Champions league football at one of the stronger clubs. If this doesn’t get a wow nothing much else will.

This can’t be right. The wise men of TWTD have been telling us for ages there is no way this will happen.
In the spirit of reconciliation and happiness at the end of the Banter Era (RIP) and as a result of promotion I have cleared out my ignore list. Look forwards to reading your posts!
Think this will go on till late in the window. Gut feeling says he goes to a more established Premier League club, but there are definitely some encouraging signs that he could come here

Yeah, that makes sense!
Conflicting reports out of Germany throughout really, what is clear is that we have bid and for it to go that far there must be a chance he entertains the idea.
I’d love to push for it personally but we also must have a price where are prepared to walk away from the deal.

He had an injury last season. It happens.
Its hard to know who has actuslly said what in social media though. Only a few days ago it was being said a move to Ipswich was beneath him ( dont know who said it) and that he was wanting a more high profile PL because it was felt that was his level.... fast forward a week ( or two?) No other PL clubs appear to be showing any interest and lo and behold, Town is now somewhere hed like to come?
I Thought I saw somewhere hes not played much domestic football for a couple of seasons? So maybe has injury problems? Yes they happen but do we want to pay out a big fee on a player who hadn't played much? It reminds me a little of Kalvin Phillips . Pedigree never in doubt, but rarely plays. Hes now gone on lian to yet another club... itll be interesting to see how much he plays this season! .
Im just suggesting we need to be careful because we cant afford to waste the transfer kitty can we.
