Silly behaviour by the player but "grabbing a fan round the throat" is massive hyperbole in my opinion on a couple of views. Really doesn't grab him by the looks of it. It reminds me of one of the most melancholic periods in the relegation of 18/19. 2-0 down at QPR on Boxing Day. Ball goes out for a throw in and is picked up by someone in a wheelchair. Grant Ward runs over to get the ball and the wheelchair user throws it straight at his face to the cheers of the stand behind them. The wheelchair user acknowledges the cheer, clearly using their status as an excuse to behave like a dick. Ward lets it slide.

A fan throwing the ball back over the players head so that he can't get it is not provocation, nor has it ever been, it is also not an action worthy of being ejected from the ground.
It happens multiple times at grounds up and down the country each and every week, and I've seen the Portman Road crowd throw the ball away from an opposition player many, many times. [Post edited 6 Sep 12:30]

I think the apology is only towards Cardiff staff and players and is not towards the fan and his family. Poor behaviour from fan to throw it away but often happens, it's just the proximity of the player to the fan at the time. This only ends one way with a ban for a player as you cannot put the hands on a fan regardless. | | | |
