Appreciate this will be unpopular on here... 20:20 - Aug 31 with 8920 views | christiand | But isn’t it great to see a Championship club have their stadium packed to the rafters for a league game? Not sure if many out there are watching Leeds United vs. Middlesboro’ but Elland Road is jumping 35k+? Appreciate it’s a top of the table clash and a Yorkshire derby! [Post edited 31 Aug 2018 21:50]

So what that Leeds is a city? Doesn’t guarantee a full stadium, especially for a live game. That North Yorkshire boundary appears to vary depending on the map! [Post edited 31 Aug 2018 20:58]

103 miles. 2 hours. And I thought people questioned whether ours is truly a local derby due to the distance between the clubs. I reckon we must be pretty much the only match Leeds will play that isn't a local derby based on that distance.

Their home support has been pathetic for years, although it's picked up now they're top of the league. Always travel well though to be fair.

Leeds United: 2017/18 average home attendance - 31,521 was ranked second only behind Villa. 2017/18 average away attendance - 2,970 ranked first. This stat certainly confirms your view about their away support, but doesn’t concure with their home support being awful for years. Regardless whether Leeds is a city or not as a football fan it’s just great to see a Championship ground full, instead of seeing a sea of empty seats for a live game.

And the season before that they had 27k and the year before that 22k. As I say, pathetic for a club that size and even last year's is nowhere near capacity. If it's just full grounds your after then our friends up the road do far better.

Without doubt Leeds are a big club but in recent years they have often shut the top tier of the main stand, their away support is impressive.

Ummmm; It does not guarantee a full stadium however logic would dictate a City would have a broader population than a town........ Secondly, it depends on what map you are looking at. Is it an old Viking map by any chance you are referring to me ol' cum trumpet?

Your stats hardly prove your points though... need at least another couple of years’ stats in order to validate your point, using one year isn’t much use.

Just had a quick look on Wikipedia, Middlesborough founded in 1830, located on the bank of the River Tees is indeed recognised as part of North Yorkshire. Think you feel I’m trying to compare Leeds United’s attendances with Ipswich’s Terra Farma, as you keep making reference to cities and towns. Simply not, just think it’s terrific seeing a full stadium in our league for a live game! It rarely happens, even for top of the table clashes, like this one.

Not easy no. Middlesboro have spent big (and continue to do so) and are winning, but the Riverside is rarely full to capacity. [Post edited 31 Aug 2018 21:42]
