A truly great player, and a humble giant in later years. I feel absolutely numb.

Very sad news. 64 is no age.

Legend of a Town player.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

Oh no, what a lovely guy. I remember going to talk that he did at the The King's Head Sproughton road. Lovely man and very open and honest, he signed a book for me dedicated to my new born son. To be honest a bit choked.

He will be greatly missed.

Amen. And he had a tough time after football. He and his wife had health problems. He was on benefits, and - as somebody from Ipswich Jobcentre told me - it broke their hearts to see him in there every fortnight.

How times in football have changed.

Considering he almost died aged in his 30s he did well to make it to 64.

There may be lots of candidates, but no one would really argue against him being our greatest ever. He was always compared to Duncan Edwards, and neither were able to have a full career. We named our eldest son after him. RIP Beat.

Feeling really sad. RIP Kev. You were the best player to ever pull on the blue shirt.

awful news.

And so as the loose-bowelled pigeon of time swoops low over the unsuspecting tourist of destiny, and the flatulent skunk of fate wanders into the air-conditioning system of eternity, I notice it's the end of the show

I always think him and Warky are on another level to anyone else. Both guys who have made Suffolk their home and been constants at the club forever - as well as being world class footballers

Incredibly sad news. He retired way before I was able to watch him play but I've grown up hearing and reading about just how good he was. I even had an Everton supporting cab driver when I was at uni telling me the same thing.

It was always sad that injuries took away from Kevin's career and for him to go so young is even more so.
