Took a look at Shrews figures for last season, taking away the obvious winning rate which quite rightly took them to third place.
For example,

Average shots per match - 8.43
Average Shots on Target - 3.98
Average goals scored per game 2.12

32.7% Fixtures finished with just 1 goal scored by Shrews
20% Fixtures were won 1-0
18.4 % 1-1

Link, https://footystats.org/clubs/england/shrewsbury-town-fc

For me, if accurate figures, they are relatively low numbers and such figures in this league imo won't lead to success.

https://footystats.org/clubs/england/ipswich-town-fc

Again, these figures may be inaccurate, however, for me, showing an average of 12 shots per game, isn't enough. With just an average of 4 shots on target a game

There is of course the fact the season is new. However it will be interesting to look at these around December time.

This appears to be classic Frimley.

You've taken Shrewsbury's 'low' shots per match and 'low' shots on target per match and decided that this won't lead to success in this division.

Whilst ignoring their high points per game, how low their goals conceded were, and 'taking away the obvious winning rate', which is also high and therefore very favourable for Hurst.

So you've cherry picked the things you think look poor and ignored all the impressive bits. You've mentioned two unfavourable statistics and ignored the three favourable ones that completely override them.

A bit like saying how great a team is when they average 3 goals a game whilst ignoring the fact they concede 10.

3.98 shots on target this season with a new system and players getting used to this level compared to 4.00 last season with a settled manager and side.

Literally no difference. So Frimley is getting himself worked up over us having less shots off target, that can't go in basically.

Perhaps he could focus on the dramatic increase in the percentage of our shots that are on target now, pretty much 50% rather than 33%. Hooray for Hurst!

Took me off ignore already, bless ya Warky

I've added the links to the sites for people to have a gander too

There's been lots of talk on here over the past 48 hours regarding shot ratios etc, hence my thread.

The reason for me saying taking away the obvious win rate is of course as we know the shrews side was successful and i'm not questinning this. I was just sharing a view that should the low shot to goal ratios etc carry over from there to here.. I find the championship a bit more unforgiving.

It's quite difficult to do a comparison on town this season compared to town last season as we've only played 6 fixtures.

Hence me saying it'll be interesting to have a look at the stats in December.

If his team is the one that I think it is then they are currently 12th out of 19 teams in the Combined Counties League One after 4 games and lost 5-0 at the weekend.

https://www.nonleaguematters.co.uk/divisions/27/

Rather wonderfully they have scored 4 and conceded 3 in their 4 games, so are averaging a goal a game and conceding 0.75 per game, which makes them the most boring team in the entire division to watch.

One team has scored 29 goals in 6 games, another has conceded 19 already. A team two places above them has already seen 25 goals go in.

Frimley appears to be complaining about Hurst and negativity, whilst being in charge of possibly the most boring to watch non-league side in England.

I wonder if he'll be sacking his manager this week.

Pretty sure Huddersfield didn't win a game by 2 goals until they beat us 2-0 in January the season they went up so you can be successful in this league without constantly peppering the goal.

Not a manager. An owner.

Any reason why you're not spending the time drawing up the paperwork to dismiss your own dull manager?

1.75 goals per game in a divisions where the average appears to be about 4.00. That must make your team very boring to watch.

How do you attract anyone to watch that?

Is that your club? Frimley Green?

If so you've had two 0-0's and a 1-1 in your three matches in a division where it literally rains goals.

7-2, 5-2, 6-4, 5-3, 6-1, 11-0, 3-3, 3-3 - goals aplenty.

But not at Frimley. Quite funny if you're having a go at Hurst being negative just below the divisional average when your own team is a million miles under it.

Hurst is to be judged pretty much on what has happened after a few games.

But the club you run should be judged later on when you have played more than a few games?

What I have learned from this thread is not to moan about a football team not being involved in many goals, if I actually run a football club that is involved in even less goals in a division where matches end 6-4 and 7-2!

Sounds to me like you are absolutely parking the bus against teams that score loads of goals and are bigger than you.

A bit like we could have chosen to do against Villa, Derby, Sheffield Wednesday and even Norwich, but didn't.

If you want me to go into properly, firstly it's quite difficult because of the levels between us. But if you're asking me too.
There's a difference between us playing away to bedfont, ( averaged 5 goals scored per game and managing to get a point from the game, than Ipswich hosting Norwich and getting a point.. Of the 2 games... I'm disappointed in 1 of the results.
