You could try Toasted Cheese Sandwiches as an upgrade. That way you get crunch as well. And the hot oozy cheese.
Does having both ketchup and salad cream in fish finger sandwiches count as a combo? Squirt them at different ends. You get some fish finger and salad cream, some fish finger and ketchup, and some glorious mouthfuls of a kind of budget prawn cocktail type sauce in the middle.
The ultimate peasant combo is the "Alf an Alf" Bedfordshire Clanger: a sausage roll and jam Roly poly in one neat package!

I'm not too keen on dripping sandwiches but dripping on toast with salt and pepper is the food of kings - especially goose dripping. I certainly wouldn't call it unusual though.
I have a couple of slightly unusual snack items, I like salt on toast and I love a toasted bread sauce sandwich.

Room temperature leftover curry is my favourite discarded food option - although sometimes The Lucan men overorder mixed kebabs and fry the leftover meats up in the morning with some additional dried chilli flakes and put the contents in tortilla wraps - absolute heaven. | |

I love slicing a pickled onion and putting that in a sandwich with a nice mature cheddar. Although I’m on a bit of a health kick at the moment pre Christmas so I’m trying to reduce my bread intake.
Another favourite that takes me back to my uni days is tuna mayo (or salad cream) on buttered toast. Covered in beans. As well as it being a taste sensation the whole hot & cold you get going on is lovely.
Lately I’ve got into boiling potatoes then crushing them (not anything close to a mash, just a squeeze or 2 with a fork) before adding a generous helping of salt and vinegar. That’s a nice easy snack or side and a much healthier alternative to chips. |  |
