As a few others have pointed out the tens of thousands homeless, using foodbanks etc. dwarfs this in seconds. The government really are shameful to be briefing the media this way and so are those gleefully feeding the hysteria. I can only assume it's the impending crunch time for Brexit.

Average that per day and the drop is explained by the weather probably? Wouldn't be too far out would it? Even if it was 5000 a year we have more homeless in Manchester than that.

I'm guessing they are doing it since the start of the coverage in the media. If anything is rather strengthens the point, it's being going on for a while at the same rate but only now is it a crisis. It's also a drop in the ocean for our asylum claims as far as I'm aware.

So why add to the incredible amount of homeless we already have in this country and the thousands that rely on food banks? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

What a stupid thing to say. The poster is right, in the summer more and more will attempt the crossing putting their lives at risk. It needs to be stopped now.
Really interesting graphic on the "migrant crisis" on 11:09 - Dec 31 with 1489 views | Pinewoodblue | Gavin Williamson said the military was ready to offer help if needed, telling The Sunday Telegraph: "We have not had any requests as yet but if the Home Office is in need of armed forces support then our navy, air force and army stand ready to assist." Not quite sure what help the RAF can provide.
