Bolton still leading the race to go bust first. 13:53 - Apr 29 with 4445 viewsITFC_Forever

Bassini apparently reneging on all his promises to Anderson (who'd have thought it? Laurence Bassini, proven snake and crook not seeing this through), players still not paid for March and April's wages due tomorrow.

Still unknown as to when the Brentford game will be played - been pencilled in for Wednesday, but no-one can confirm it.

Football League ordering Bolton to play even if they have to play youth team (so they are effectively bullying 16-18 year olds to break a strike when they may very well have not been paid either).

Good job BWFC's two remaining games are against mid-table sides I suppose.

The youth team players should just go out and sit on the pitch for 90 minutes.

Our first team has been doing that for most of this season.

When you consider just three years ago Eddie Davies wrote off £170m of their debt when he sold the club to Anderson, football is in a dreadful state. Operating losses of Championship clubs are frightening.

Some of the commentators on R5L on Saturday lunchtime were getting quite angry about that point of the EFL demanding that teenagers break the strike, just to prevent their own loss of face (in not having taken earlier and more decisive action themselves).

Tho someone did point out that the EFL, as a representative body of its member teams, somewhat lacks the mandate to force clubs to act on internal financial affairs without collegiate agreement (which proved difficult enough to achieve and make effective with the FFP saga).

Yep, and the sooner a few clubs go bust, the better. It'll be a disaster for the fans of those clubs, but as an industry, it will serve football right.

Indeed, if Bassini's takeover is allowed to go through, it'll be the biggest farce ever.

"Operating losses of Championship clubs are frightening."

It has been forecast that several teams will not be able to strat next season.
I have no way of telling if this is fact

Yes. I really don't understand why more fan rage is not directed at the football authorities who have let things get to this state, who have allowed the sport to become a festival of cupidity and untrammeled greed.

But instead owners are abused for not adding fuel to the fire by even wilder overspending.

Perhaps Marcus Evans' long game (of relative financial responsibility, or at least keeping losses under control) will pay in the end.

Said on here when it broke, a man who has already been bankrupt twice, did not have a glossy record as Watford owner taking over from another crook.

Just a recipe for disaster. The saga goes on.

He will be hailed as a genius.

As 63 clubs go to the wall, we will be promoted to the Premier League as a consequence, wipe out the debt and end up being in a better position than most of the clubs above us.

Bassini never fulfilled his promise of paying players before Brentford game (he said so live on Sky Sports).

His financial check should not be taking this long, I understand that you have to forensically analyse his accounts but something can't be right.

Thankfully we have an owner who cares about the club and continues to put in big money year on year.

Those who are agitating for protests against him need their bumps felt.

The whole thing seemed off from the get go.

Bassini said he would be paying the player wages in the same interview he confirmed they hadn't yet done due diligence and before he'd been approved by the FA as a fit and proper person.

Who seriously hands over millions as a goodwill gesture to a club they may end up not wanting to buy or potentially cannot be allowed to run!

Plus that may run afoul of rules about third parties having an interest in players.

Anderson is going to make a further statement tonight if Bassini hasn't got his act together.

Bolton are next in court on 8th May.... they'll do very well not to be in admin and then liquidation come close of business on that day.
Any other business wouldn't have had this many chances from the courts, I don't know why football clubs think they are above this? They've had more chances than a monopoly board.

The longer the deal goes on the more likely it will capitulate imo.

Due diligence on his finances should have been done by now, or certainly begun. It takes no longer than 60 days, but i don't think it has even begun on Bassini yet, which would indicate he has provided the right accounts for it to begin.

And yet he turned up to court in a brand new all white Rolls Royce, got more front than Southend.

It would be great if they did, something needs to happen.

Absolute joke how Bassini can be classed as a suitable owner and every time Anderson speaks he comes across as even more incompetent.

This.

Given he also has previous for alleged ‘financial impropriety’ at Watford, I’m absolutely amazed he meets any ‘fit and proper’ measures that are supposedly upheld by the FA!

Really tough for Bolton fans. I feel for them. Even if he takes over, I can’t imagine this is the end.

I wouldn't want him anywhere near us. Nice little summary of his shady past here - https://www.theguardian.com/football/2019/apr/18/watford-former-bankrupt-owner-l

One thing I couldn't believe was that after his year in charge of Watford getting them into trouble he sold out for just £550k to the Pozzo family in 2012. What a purchase that was. At that time they weren't doing much differently to us on the pitch.
