Criminal really. Not even censure for the 54% of party members who actually admit to anti-Muslim prejudice.

A load of institutional balls. That our lapdog/attack dog press will nod through.

Indeed. They’re all in the Labour Party or something like that.

Is the Tory investigation along the same lines as the bullying one when that young activist committed suicide? Wonder what Grant Shapps is up to these days.

Must be because the investigation Boris Johnson promised to carry out internally was so thorough.

In what probably qualifies as "smart politics" nowadays, the Tories' own investigation only looks at complaint handling and discipline.

That's basically the minimum and what the Labour accusations were reduced to when nothing else stuck. Even this low-level accusation needed the help of saboteurs on the inside and activists on the outside who wanted to overwhelm the complaint handling with thousands of non-Labour and frivolous cases. Getting in the way of the genuine antisemitism complaints too.

But the Tories' investigation is nothing like the initial Chakrabarti report in scope or honesty - and that was in a party where racism was already known to be relatively low. In the Tory party it's already known to be much higher.

The whole thing stinks.

I think the key part here is this:

"If we are not satisfied with progress or how the investigation is conducted we will review our decision and do not rule out the use of our legal powers"

So, we can expect an EHRC investigation at some time in the future when the Independent investigation is filed int he same place as the Russia Report.

Pretty much.

Not really anything happening here, for now.

But they've already condoned the scope of the report when that's explicitly restricted to administrative issues.

The EHRC investigation into Labour was also about seeing whether the results of the far wider Chakrabarti report, Royall report and Home Affairs Select Committee were implemented.

It seems that the EHRC are using a telescope and looking through the other end depending on which party they're looking at.

"At this stage."

You're not bothered about the nuance though, you're just going to leave this here and hope some fall for it.

Amazing, for someone who's a campaigner against racism.

I bet Bloots will downarrow this.
