Bug ID bugging me! Help pls TWTD naturalists 01:22 - Aug 11 with 2187 viewsRyorry

Large oval shaped flying insect with 2 wide yellow bands running across body with wide black band in-between, was loudly buzzing round ceiling light in house one night a week ago. Flat shiny body, not fuzzy, so don't think it was a bee (and was a bit bigger than a bumblebee anyway). Most resembled no.8 in this pic - 'Large Milkweed Bug' - but the colouring was definitely yellow, not red. Was about the size of 2 middle fingernails. Never seen anything like it before! Thoughts anyone?

Thanks all for the suggestions.

Wasp beetle is too narrow
Sap beetle's too small
Two-lined Spittlebug - bands too narrow (and I don't live in N. America!)

Most likely, & I think probably correct, is this version of the Cockchafer - today's Audi goes to Uefacup81, thank you :)

Unusual colouring & to be found this far north I believe (N. Yorks) but I think the ID is confirmed by the pygidium at the end of its abdomen. It's about the size of a £1 coin.

Edit: tho having said that, its body is definitely smooth & shiny, not hairy. Hmm 🤔

Why has it got an RC aerial sticking out of its head if it isn't a spy drone? Nice photo by the way.

For some reason I now have an urge to go out and buy a bag of humbugs!
