Am sure it is unrelated to her 60th birthday party that ended up in a break down of Tier 2 rules.

The hypocracy of slamming politicians for rule breaking and then rule breaking....

She seemes to be saying she accidentally broke the rules by going to the toilet? Surely having 4 people to her house in tier 2 was against the rules?

I'm a bit confused. Why is she focusing on the popping to the loo bit as the issue?

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Diversion?

Even if she were sacked (a big if) am sure one of the 2 new news channels would happily provide a new home.

Anyhow, not really news.

I think it is a badly constructed article, not that she is apologising for the toilet bit.

She just ignored the rules and thought no-one would find out.

Indeed. I'm not even sure the restaurant bit was wrong (spilt between 4 and 6)?

It's her tweet that was badly constructed (perhaps deliberately, as lagos says above).

I'd trust KB to be much more aware of doing it safely than I will trust the millions who will be doing it in a few weeks, so hard to get too riled about this. High profile people should be a bit more careful about being discreet though...

On saying that last time we were in tier 2 the restaurant bit was only allowed 6 people from the same household. So regardless of bending the rule with 2 tables they are presumably outright breaking the rules

I haven't looked if that has changed because I'm tier 3 nowadays

You can’t be indoors at a restaurant with 6 people not from your household. So she broke the law there.

Then she went back to her house with 4 of them indoors. Again, breaking the law

Surely her position is untenable? How can she berate politicians every morning if she breaking her rules herself. Same goes for Beth Rigby.

Not really, the government has essentially made it impossible for anyone to have the moral authority to sack someone for breaching lockdown rules.

Indeed. If she were sacked she would be held to a higher standard than govt advisors.

Which would be ironic given her job was to try to hold the govt to account.

Whilst the government clearly lack any moral authority, what’s she going to do in future when taking a political interviewee to task for not upholding the law, and he/she turns around and shoved this back in her face.

Tell them she took her lead from the government, much like millions of others. I imagine she'll at least have the decency to apologise, which gives her one up on the politicians she'll be interviewing. As long as you aren't an unrepentant child murderer you're pretty much going to have the moral high ground over this Tory government.

She has a different employer to Dominic Cummings. Just because Johnson was spineless and failed to take action against his rule breaker, doesn’t mean the SN management should do the same.

They won’t want a lame duck presenter who can no longer ask the difficult questions or report the news with regards to rule breakers.

I asked the question to highlight the fact that our government has very low standards of holding it's ministers/advisors to account on issues of integrity.

Assuming Burley is back tomorrow she would still have been 'punished' more than Cummings, Patel, Jenwick...

Although it will look very strange to many people when tabloid journalists are being held to a higher standard of conduct than the actual government. The absolute state of it.
