Elon Musk tweeted about the E2E encrypted messenger Signal due to WhatsApp privacy updates. So, people rushed into their trading apps and searched for "Signal" - they found "Signal Advance" - which has NOTHING to do with the hyping messenger

After this tweet, the share of Signal Advance (was valued at 9M before, lost 125k last year ) increased up to 11300% . Market cap peaked at 𝟯,𝟯 𝗕𝗜𝗟𝗟𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗨𝗦 𝗗𝗢𝗟𝗟𝗔𝗥 Chris M. Hymel (CEO) owns 48,78% of Signal Advance.

A tweet by Elon made him a billionaire - his shares were worth 1,6BN and the correction is still not done.

That's the problem with stock exchanges as share price gambling dens rather than their original intention as a means to channel finance into business and give a return through dividends on profit.

Not by any means a new phenomenon, if you look at Tulip Fever or the South Sea Bubble.

Good Lord! Whatever is it?

He's been in trouble with the SEC before for moving the market using Twitter but in this instance he seems to be totally innocent. Does show how many people are hanging on his every word though.

There's this really weird following Musk has, despite being a pretty poor human being.

What's also quite funny is that Signal is completely open source, protocol and all. There's literally nothing to stop you just using it anyway, as indeed is the case with Whatsapp which uses the Signal protocol...

I’m probably completely wrong on this but the more I see and hear of Musk the more he reminds me of a James Bond villain!

Does he own a white cat?

Why is Musk "a pretty poor human being"? Genuine question, I have no idea.

Trust the process. Trust Phil.

Start with the obvious I guess, there was the case where he decided to call someone a pedophile with no evidence because the guy said mean words about his pointless submarine stunt.

Then there was him spreading very bad information about covid, and potential treatments.

Anti-union activities for me are bad although that's a political thing so people may not agree on that but I tend to find preventing people from making unions is generally a crappy thing to do.

Then there are multiple stories about him being quite harsh to his employees and that Tesla is a nasty place to work:

There's loads of stuff. He's just not a good dude.

Indeed. Think this is really just who he is and those weaknesses are his strengths.

His self-promotion, arrogance and hubris become energy, confidence and vision depending on the situation and people’s perspective. Unfortunately, the latter view is crack cocaine to a lot of investors who have no emotional or financial desire to see the inevitable downside.

As Guthers points out, he’s a one-man bubble.

One can presumably call musk a paedo to his face with impunity, as he regards it merely as 'playground insult' from his South African childhood.

What would you do if you were the CEO or employees?

Clearly they would be foolish not to be immediately selling as much of their stock as possible as long as it's within their various legal agreements.

Look how overpriced his own Tesla stocks are compared to assets, profit and sales. Bigger captialisation than Toyota?! Private speculators causing a bubble.

If people lose money on Signal Advance after reading a Tweet, then it's their own fault not his.

That aside, what he has done with SpaceX, however is really impressive.

Though I kind of like him...! But he is a dickhead and as you say a crap person. In mitigation he does have perhaps some psych issues, but actually so what, it's not an excuse for being an asshole to people.

I would be dumping them quicker than at a year 8 disco.

Market cap has jumped from 6m to 300m. For every dollar of equity they had pre Tweet / confusion they have 50 now. It'll come down and normalise as quickly as it went up I imagine.
