I genuinely don't understand why Newcastle would pay him £8m. When he took the job 2 1/2 years ago, he was "only" on £1m a year, though for some reason this then was bumped up to £2.75m. Newcastle could continue to pay him until he takes another job, although at 60, he might not want or need one.
