Right on cue the camera cuts back and forth between Fergie and Ole and references Fergie's record.

Thankless task managing them in Fergie's shadow.

Nobody in our lifetime will win as much for Man Utd as Ferguson but the money ole gunnar solskjaer has spent they should be right up there. 4-0 now at half time. I reckon he's gone this week.

Barring a remarkable second half recovery, I doubt he will be there by midday tomorrow.

It's a shame really as he's shown a lot of good as manager following Scottish Chap, Dutch bloke, and The Angry One.

I think Man United's issues are higher than the managers anyway - they used to be so good at recruiting youth talent with a view to play them. Now they seem to just do the standard elite thing of gobbling up lots of youth talent and see what sticks.

The culture of the club has shifted a lot, which is to be expected with their owners.

That's a fair assessment but do you not think that the golden age and emergence of Beckham, Scholes etc etc was the exception rather than the rule. Everything fell in place at once which is rare.

History repeating, innit, but to a lesser degree.

Same happened when Matt Busby left, so much so that within four seasons, they were relegated.

To a point - obviously a lot of players came good at the same time, but of that golden generation how many of the players were world class on individual merit? I think the fact they all played together from a young age as a unit has a huge part to play in elevating their success in the game.

An example of modern Man United is Adnan Januzaj - looked to be a world beater in his youth - but man united loaned him out then offloaded him to Real Sociedad - where he is now starting to reach his potential once again.

If Adnan Januzaj was part of Fergie's squad, you'd have probably seen him built up at Man United and either kept on or sold for a massive profit.

Good question. There was recently an interview with Keogh in the Guardian about the accident. Don’t recall exact details but he was clearly annoyed with some of his ex team mates’ behaviour and how it was originally reported.

I wonder what would have happened if they had given the same amount of patience they have shown with Ole to David Moyes when he replaced Fergie.

I think Moyes would have done well, but I honestly don't think that club is ran in a way that will raise their ceiling above 4th place.

Im looking at them bringing back Ronaldo and Ibrahimovic - Yes, good players who were/are capable for another season or two - but it gets in the way of bringing in someone that could evolve into a man united player in their prime.

It all smacks a bit of raising the marketability in the now to compensate for the seasons that they were missing the Champion's League rather than plan for the future.

United din't need a striker - they had Cavani, Greenwood and Rashford. Sancho I could just about understand but they should have spent the money ploughed into the Ronaldo transfer to bring in a defensive midfielder. Their squad seriosuly lacks balance.

Ronaldo coming back was a weird one, it was not a player they needed. I don't think Ole wanted it, that was one from the owners.

Ronaldo played them, Juventus stopped winning stuff with him there and pretty much wanted him off the books, there's no money in Spain anymore. Some BS story about Man City coming in for him was enough for the Glazers who after all the protests were eager to curry favour spunked a load of wages on getting Ronaldo back.
