Isn't the ultimate decision always with the owner?

At least the new lot will do their due diligence, get some statistics, commission reports and ask difficult questions to make sure everyone is making the best decision.

I know it’s not how you did things Marcus but in the real world that is what happens, the CEO interviews candidates makes a shortlist, presents it to the board and tells them these are the shortlist I recommend we hire X and here’s why if you disagree tell me now.

My flawed understanding is that the owners are the Board. I.e the Americans. As Chairman, O’Leary is also on the Board and is the essential link. Ashton is CEO and runs the club and sometimes dials in to Board meetings, but he is an employee.

So given Ashton is running the club day to day, he will have discretion to make decisions on each of the operational strands, but I presume the major ones re a key position like manager or funding for say ground improvements beyond certain limits would need Board approval.

This is purely piecing together what they said when the club was taken over and a bit of guess work. I’m sure far more knowledgeable people than me will correct this view.
