Even if we sign Harris... on 18:03 - Dec 9 with 2360 views | itfcjoe | At the end of the day even Lambert was giving a very fair crack of the whip by the fanbase despite being their best ever manager, so sure everyone will get behind Harris or AN Other He might not be my cup of tea as a manager, or in my top few choices but he has always struck me as a very good guy so some of the comments about him are a bit off

This. And its worth noting that a lot of us (me included) didn't want the Cowleys because of their long ball credentials, but that's not the football they are playing at Portsmouth is it? Thats not to pretend I wouldn't be underwhelmed by Harris!

Yes, I’m sure he’s a good guy. Probably remembers birthdays and everything. He was a good player too. But I cannot see what the advantage is over McGreal/Dyer or what he has to offer unless the words we’ve heard from the owners, Ashton and co are just words. In the summer, they talked about the ambition of Championship and higher. How is someone like Harris going to do that given his track record?

Did you feel like this for Cook at the start too (or at least before he binned off all our old squad)?

I’m not saying I want him, but his managerial record is clearly far better than McGreals as did a cracking job at Millwall and established then in Champ and then went to Cardiff and du an excellent job first year then a dud one the second year (which seems to be what happens at Cardiff) It would be a hell of a tough sell because of some of what you mention - but let’s not pretend he’s a hopeless manager whose CV isn’t good enough

Harris really strikes me as an Evans style appointment. However, like others have said, I'll support whoever comes in the door. We all want the same thing, for Ipswich to be successful.

No Cook was an appointment that genuinely excited me whereas Harris would leave me a bit flat

What is it about his record of achieving the play offs in both his seasons managing in League One that upsets you.

Everyone gets a fair shake and perhaps he’s gone back to the drawing board since Cardiff. Liked him as a footballer but were you at The New Den the game prior to Lambert taking over? Good Lord, if that’s anything to by, we’ll be the new Cheltenham of this division. The name needs to be bigger and the CV needs to have more managerial accolades or a much more advanced football philosophy for me. Either that or he has to be a manager who’s football we’ve seen recent evidence of like a Liam Manning or a Karl Robinson (probably the best sides to play us this season).

If we can get behind McCarthy, we can surely get behind anyone as long as they win games

Even if we sign Harris... on 18:39 - Dec 9 with 1966 views | ArnieM | Sadly I think the usual small element of Town fans will always “ have a go “ at the manager. I’m surprised they haven’t had a go at McGreal for being from Liverpool just like they did Cook. It’s stupid , but it keeps happening doesn’t it. [Post edited 9 Dec 2021 18:51]

I guess the question is, where’s the logic in Harris? He’s not achieved anything in management. He doesn’t play a brand of football to ‘pack out PR’ and there’s nothing of note to point to in any shape to get excited about or understand reason given his last few appointments have been failures. If all the links, it’s one of the ones I least understand and would make me even more nervous that Gamechanger are too erratic.

Doesn’t stop folk commenting at this stage though or raising concerns at possible appointments of Lennon or Harris, who wouldn’t be an improvement on Cook.

He was appointed manger and delivered the League play offs in his first season, lost in the final, did the same the next season and won promotion, then established Millwall in the Championship - not a bad record,
