Thousands of empty seats at Brighton and West Ham on 21:25 - Dec 26 with 2036 views | Metal_Hacker | Bit of both I think Illy Think majority of games were expected to be called off and those with travel and hotel reservations cashed in before potentially losing the lot maybe Currently sat at home with Covid and I get the fact people are being cautious because it really isn’t very nice

There’s no trains on Boxing Day.

Thousands of empty seats at Brighton and West Ham on 21:46 - Dec 26 with 1927 views | EastTownBlue | No trains on the line that serves the staduim at Falmer on Boxing Day. There are strict parking restrictions on the streets for miles around the ground which leaves supporters relying on park and ride coaches. Plus poor recent form thrown in...

Not round here no. | | | |
Thousands of empty seats at Brighton and West Ham on 21:50 - Dec 26 with 1913 views | Freddies_Ears | No way Brighton should have a home game today. Their ground is designed for public transport, with very limited parking at or near the stadium. The vast majority of fans go by train from Brighton or Lewes, and there were no trains. West Ham have less excuse, as they are on the Central and Jubilee lines +DLR.

It is ridiculous that a stadium so reliant on public transport has a game arranged for a day when the public transport in question isn’t running.

Thousands of empty seats at Brighton and West Ham on 22:05 - Dec 26 with 1824 views | bluelagos | Tottenham had 40k there today, 45k at their last match. 60k capacity and I've never known Boxing day matches to be down due to trains before. Indeed there are no trains on Boxing day. Reckon it is primarily people choosing to avoid places where transmission is possible. See also shopping and hospitality atm. [Post edited 26 Dec 2021 23:41]

Interesting. In Tottenham’s case I think you are right. You cannot park there any more so it’s public transport all the way. Given the nightmare transport connections in that dump of an area, if you are in the least bit bothered about Covid you wouldn’t go. Add in possibly a reduced Boxing Day service and it’s good luck with that. I know the the dysfunctional mugs in government don’t care but events with mass attendances and the cramming of people on public transport seems nuts to me. Especially as next week they might well be insisting on people sitting at a table in hospitality venues being waited on at table/metre gap etc. Politics over doing what’s right. Just keep ruffling what’s left of your hair Boris. That’s what’s important eh?

It may be large, but it's not nearly large enough to take the weight of no public transport.
