Ahem. It only became the Premiership in 93, when it got its first sponsor. So they did play in the Premier League.

Wasn't that against a team that regularly impersonates a premier league side? | | | | Login to get fewer ads

I think that Bury, Glossop, Grimsby and Notts County have all had that doubtful honour too. The first team to do it were Bradford Park Avenue - though the team that plays non-league styles itself Bradford Park Avenue AFC [Post edited 12 Jan 2022 13:49]

and did it at home as well, whereas Luton did away from home. Sadly that upset, whilst on paper is probably the greatest of all time or thereabouts, is often overlooked......I think this is primarily as Luton are not a traditional non-league club as well as the fact the team they beat don't historically belong in the top flight, and only participate when they get there at best.
