I don't think gold's going to be much use to you in an apocalypse, although you could build a very shiny bunker.

You will find that tinned foods and water purifying stuff will keep you alive longer than gold. Spend any change on drugs.....great for bartering.

At a ratio of about 5:1 vertical:horizontal component, that smacks to me a bit of when you were a kid pissing about with a bow and arrow and shot straight up in the air, only to sh!t yourself when the breeze picked up and you thought it was going to come back down and skewer you! There's ballistic, and then there's R*ssian Roulette! [Post edited 24 Mar 2022 10:34]

Why barter? In the event of WW3, I wouldn't swap my stash for bread, water or even Kylie's gold lamé shorts, unwashed!

The altitude can’t be right. That’s 15 times higher than the ISS and would mean it was orbiting.

Yes, it seems peculiar. Also the flight time of 71 minutes seems wrong. I wonder if it is made of dandelion seeds?

Does seem a smidge high, but it's worth noting that ICBMs launched over short ranges could defienly exceed 2000km altitude. And pedantic point. It is quite possible to reach that sort of altitude and not establish orbit.

Don't look up! Maybe all the sabre rattling and dick wagging is so that we don't notice the next ELE causing bit of spacerock coming our way. Putin etc al know its coming so are getting to live out their "end of the world no consequences fantasies" and we are the Orwellian masses happy with lottery, football and beer. Surely this alone explains the Conservative Party and the corruption of chumocracy. When the dolphins have left you'll realise Douglas Adams was a descendent of Nostrodamus...
