So who's having it then on 21:34 - Aug 15 with 2268 views | Swansea_Blue | Isn’t that a bit late? Aren’t we at least 2 variants on from the original Omicron, let alone the original variant? (Sorry, I’ve lost interest so not really sure which variants are in circulation now).

So who's having it then on 21:36 - Aug 15 with 2260 views | J2BLUE | I haven't had Covid despite being in quite a few situations where I probably should have got it. If offered another vaccine, i'd gratefully accept. Edited for clarity. [Post edited 16 Aug 2022 9:53]

That was what I was thinking, both the strains no longer exist in this country! I'm not anti-vaccine but I'm starting to be concerned that Moderna and Pfizer are guiding health policy.

Whilst we are further along than the original Omicron variant a vaccine which protects against some of the 50+ mutations in the original Omicron strain is going to be far better than the original vaccine at protecting vulnerable people. The spike protein of the latest variants have far more in common with the Omicron variant than the Wuhan variant and thus whilst they won't be perfect they should be more effective at priming the immune system.. More effective but targeted vaccinations seems like a no brainer. SB

There is no down side to using an improved vaccine which has more chance of priming the immune system against the highly evolved spike protein. Nobody is going to make you have it so not entirely sure why you're concerned about anything past pushing your previous covid narrative. SB

I said "but I'm starting to be concerned about" which is of course not the same thing at all. I've seen some articles regarding the profits these companies are making and how it is of course in their interests to sell as many of these vaccines as possible. They are vaccinating under-5s with Pfizer in the US. That doesn't seem to be the policy here, therefore I want to examine the risk/benefit equation of the vaccine for my personal profile before making my mind up.

The facts are: any vaccine will help your resistance and protection to varying degrees.

Long story short: it will almost certainly benefit you. Like any other vaccine would. There. Saved you a whole lot of JAQing off. [Post edited 16 Aug 2022 8:13]

Anything which boosts your resistance against is likely to be a good thing, given the wild and wacky long-term effects even a mild dose can bring with it. I've seen more pulmonary embolisms this past 18 months than i have in the previous 20. A lot of that is linkable to the fun things Covid does to clotting function.

And here's another of the usual suspects, making the thread even more predictable by claiming some kind of unspecified 'superior' knowledge.

Genuinely interested. Are these long term effects mainly in the older demographic or more widely spread through the age groups. I will be having a booster.
| We have no village green, or a shop.
It's very, very quiet.
I can walk to the pub. |

Can vaccines be categorically ruled out from playing any part in that? For the avoidance of doubt the above is a question.
